Pet dental health is too commonly ignored by many pet parents. Most don’t understand how important it is to keep our pet’s teeth clean until their dog or cat ends up at the vet with periodontal disease. Then the big shock – thousands of dollars worth of vet bills come piling in. It’s safe to say that it’s fairly easy to prevent such circumstances by keeping up on your pet’s dental health. The best way I’ve found to do this? Daily dental chews. I admit that I need to get better at brushing my dog’s teeth but I give my dogs a daily dental treat to assist in preventative care. This February, we’re celebrating #PetDentalHealthMonth with Greenies!
Dog-Friendly Stores and Restaurants
Recently I was talking to one of my neighbors as we ran into each other while walking our dogs. We were gabbing about how beautiful the weather is but that it’s been unusually hot lately. The topic of Arizona summers came up and we discussed how it’s nearly impossible to walk our dogs when it’s 115°. It’s just WAY too hot for ourselves and our dogs. That brought us to talking about dog-friendly stores because it’s nice to be able to walk our dogs around air conditioned places. With that being said, here is a list of dog friendly stores and restaurants, although there may be others in your area that aren’t on the list.
NOse Offense, but you NEED this odor eliminator!
If you have a pet, you’ve inevitably dealt with an accident of some sort in your home. Whether it be urine, vomit or something in between, these messes are no fun to clean up. What’s worse than getting stains out of carpets and fabrics is the odor that pet accidents can leave behind. Recently we were potty training McKenzie Rae because even though she’s two years old, she lived on the streets up until we rescued her. Needless to say, McKenzie felt that it was appropriate to do her business wherever she wanted. With lots of positive reinforcement, McKenzie Rae is now potty trained, but that doesn’t fix the problem stench which was left behind in one particular corner of the house. NOse Offense has come to the rescue in eliminating those odors.
Why Do Chihuahuas Shake?
If you’re a Chihuahua parent, you probably get sick of hearing people say “OMG he’s shaking! Is he scared?” or “Awwww the poor thing is cold! Look at him shake!” To be perfectly honest, it really bothers me. Shaking is a “Chihuahua thing.” They all do it and we need to educate people as to why. In this blog post, we answer the ever burning question – why do Chihuahuas shake?
From Banker to Blogger
I graduated from Arizona State University in May 2011. I was 22 years old. Needless to say, I was pretty proud of myself! A Bachelor’s degree already at the age of 22 and I now had my entire life ahead of me. But I also needed a job. That was fine with me – I was ready to start making money instead of spending it on student loans. The problem? I couldn’t get a job in my field of study, which was history and culture. I went to school to be a high school history teacher but by the time I was ready to graduate with my Bachelor’s, I still needed to get certified as a teacher. Forget it. I started applying for jobs. On August 1, 2011, I started a job as a banker. Little did I know, it was the beginning of a miserable career that would turn into a dream come true.
