This is a double DIY post! I’m putting these two crafts together since I made them both for our Nashville trip coming up in a few days! I got the cowboy hat idea from my friend Jessica over at Beagles and Bargains. I also decided that I wanted to make a simple t-shirt that says “Wynston’s Mom,” so I did it!
Cowboy hat materials (all from Hobby Lobby):
- Cowboy hat. I chose a red velvet hat that I found in the doll section.
- Western star button
- Sequins
- Fabric glue
I chose to do a very simple design for the cowboy hat. The western star is a pin with a screw backing. I poked a hole in the hat with a needle, then proceeded to push the pin backing into the hat. I screwed on the star, and there you have it! It could honestly make a really cute sheriff hat. I finished with gluing sequins around the edge of the hat with fabric glue. It dried within minutes! The project took about 5-10 minutes total. Cost: $11.00
T-shirt materials (also from Hobby Lobby):
- t-shirt. I got an adult small in black.
- Lettering of your choice. I chose a silver lettering that looks like little diamonds, but they aren’t as shiny.
- Iron
Lay the t-shirt on a flat surface. Cut out your letters and lay them out on the shirt as you want them. Follow the instructions for the specific lettering you get – it may vary depending on what the letters are made out of, brand, fabric type of the shirt, etc. I ironed on my letters for about a minute total. I bought paw print pins to put on the shirt since I couldn’t find a sparkly paw print to iron on, but I decided I may use them on my tote bag instead. The shirt took about 10 minutes to make. Cost: $8.00
I’m so excited to wear my shirt at the BlogPaws conference and now Wynston is ready to rock and roll in Nashville with his snazzy hat!
