I am very excited to be doing my first ever cat product review! I have 2 cats – Sadie, my 4 year old polydactyl calico, and Joey, my 5 year old tabby cat who suffers from a disability called radial hypoplasia.
I love Pro Plan. I feed all of my animals Pro Plan and I have been for years. I swear by their products and the people behind the company name are the most amazing people! I had the pleasure of meeting many of them at the Purina Incredible Dog Challenge last year!
Anyways, I jumped on this opportunity to try Pro Plan’s new litter because I have always used Tidy Cats. While I have no qualms with Tidy Cats, I figured it wouldn’t hurt to try something different. Joey and Sadie never had any problems with the clay litter, but the Pro Plan Renew premium clumping litter contains fresh smelling cedar. Let me tell you, I have been missing out. The cedar smells amazing!
About Pro Plan Renew premium clumping litter:
- It’s made with a highly absorbent corncob, which helps trap odors while reducing moisture. (And yes it does – a lot better than clay!)
- The fresh-smelling cedar is a natural odor absorber to keep your house from smelling like cats! With clay, you could definitely smell it when you walked into the laundry room but with this litter, it smells excellent (if I smell it at all!).
- The jug in which the litter comes is made of 93% recycled materials and it can be recycled after use. It’s also extremely light weight.
At first, Sadie and Joey were very skeptical. They’ve been using Tidy Cats clay litter for years. It honestly took them about 4-5 days to realize that they should probably give Pro Plan Renew litter a try (I had one litter box with clay and one with the Renew). I’m sure it feels a lot better on their paws and now that they started using it, it’s been fantastic! Even after they go to the bathroom, I can’t smell it like I used to with the clay litter.
Now after using Pro Plan Renew premium clumping litter, I don’t want to use anything else! I have absolutely nothing bad to say about this wonderful product. I’d highly recommend it to anyone with cats.
What brand of litter do you use for your cats?

I have a houseful of cats because I can’t say no. I used Tidy Cats for years but with the low humidity here, dust was becoming a bad problem so I switched to Arm & Hammer which is a bit better but it seems “heavy” and the cats don’t always bury like they should. Like you say, the house is clean but smells like cat.
I have tried other natural products but the house ended up smelling like a barn.
I am going to try the Renew.

Hi Amanda,
I have been using it for quite some time and really like it. Since they don’t make this any longer, what have you found that is an acceptable replacement?
Amanda says
Hi John! I know, it’s a bummer that it’s not available anymore. I actually have a product review being published on July 19th on World’s Best Kitty Litter. I will let you know how I like it! In the meantime, I started using Tidy Cats again.
