We made it through our third agility trial! As usual, it was so much fun. Sunday night we ran our jumpers course. It’s funny because for our gamblers run Wynston was the first dog to run and for jumpers we ran very last. Wynston had already won 1st place in gamblers so whatever happened with jumpers, we would be happy!
By the time it was Wynston’s turn, it was dark outside and a little chilly! We were enjoying it since it’s never “chilly” in May in Arizona. Wynston had a great start line, but the run was a bit crazy. I felt like I was supporting the jumps well but for one of them, he went completely around it. I had never seen him do that before. Matt was recording us and I even saw Wynston look straight at Matt and the camera. This was also weird because he never gets distracted by people.
If it weren’t for those two faults, we would have gotten first place. The faults counted against our time, so even though we had the fastest time initially, the faults brought us down to 2nd place. But hey, I’ll take it!!!!!! Second place feels like first. The most important part is that we finished the run and Wynston had fun.
Make sure you check out the recap of our gamblers run here!
Now for the fun part. Here are videos of our two runs! Enjoy 🙂

Aw that’s pretty endearing that even though he’s usually not distracted he looked over at Matt – maybe it was a “Hey! Daddy’s watching me!” moment 🙂 Congrats; you guys are having a blast and it’s so neat so see smaller dogs competing in a sport that some perceive as Border Collie only; seriously I know they’re great but I love watching all the different dogs compete – big and small.

Hahahaha Jen I couldn’t help but laugh when he looked at Matt! I laugh every time I watch the video also. The beauty of agility is that any dog can do it. Although border collies are the most common agility dog, the fastest dog doesn’t always win and I think people forget that.

Agility looks like so much fun! I would love to try it with Rolo but he has bad legs. Maybe he can do a walking version like, slowest dog wins!
Amanda says
Since you’ve been working so much with Rolo, he could possibly do some obstacles for just for fun! Many people do agility to simply bond with their dog and have a good time. We like competing but the main point is just for us to have fun together!

Lots of our cardigan friends (my dogs’ siblings, aunts, uncles and cousins and their peeps) are big into agility. I put my two in a mini-course a few years back, but I just don’t have the time to commit. It must be great fun, though, seeing folks like you and your dog work so hard at it! Maybe one day I’ll have more time…
Love the videos! Congratulations to you and Wynston!

Those videos are so sweet! I can’t wait to move so we have more options for Mauja and Atka. I think they’d love agility or nosework 🙂
