Animal rescues and shelters are always in desperate of help. “Help” can come in many different forms, but the fact of the matter is homeless animals need us. Shelters work tirelessly to help save millions of furry lives every year, so let me share some ways that you can give back to your local animal shelter in honor of National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week.
Strut Your Mutt Phoenix & Dogtoberfest 2017 Recap
This year has been full of “firsts” for us, so why stop now? You all know that I’m obsessed with pet events, and my goal this fall has been to check out new ones that I’ve never been to before. Wynston and I were blessed to get the invitation to attend Strut Your Mutt Phoenix, a national pet event hosted by Best Friends Animal Society. Wynston would be making a celebrity appearance and taking photos with attendees at the Instapet Tent, along with Instagram stars Stogie and Princess Lily Grumps. Count us in!!! That same evening was Dogtoberfest, a small local event a few miles from our house, and I wanted to be sure to check that out as well. Here’s a recap (with lots of photos of course) of the events!
The Dog-Friendly Staybridge Suites in Irving, TX!
I have a newfound love for IHG Hotels. The dog-friendliness and superior customer service of the hotel chain have shamelessly turned me into one of those “I will only stay at these hotels” people. Throw in a full kitchenette and you have completely won me over. My last stay at an IHG hotel was when Wynston and I visited El Paso, TX in early September. I fell in love with Candlewood Suites and everything they had to offer. It was after that trip that I decided I wanted to continue exploring the country by way of IHG, which brought Wynston and I to Irving, TX to check out Staybridge Suites.
Welcoming Fall with Barktoberfest 2017
Fall in Arizona means it’s pet event season! Unlike a majority of the country, October kicks off weekly pet events around the Grand Canyon State because the weather is finally cooling down. Barktoberfest, which benefits Friends for Life Animal Rescue in Gilbert, is the perfect way to begin the next few months of pet event fun. The 18th annual Barktoberfest was once again a success, and this year I was able to share the joy with my mom and her dog Cooper! Although it was a bit toasty, Wynston and I had a blast.
Tips for Traveling With an Injured Dog
I’m aware that there are tons of articles floating around in cyberspace about tips for traveling with pets. I even wrote a blog post about vacationing with dogs, but what about adding an injury to the mix? Sometimes you may have to travel with an injured animal (perhaps you’re moving) or maybe you want to take a fun trip! As long as it’s safe and healthy for your canine companion to travel (be sure to get the all-clear from your vet), here are some tips for traveling with an injured dog.
