I feel like I’ve been preparing for the 2017 Dog Mom Days holiday gift guide all year. I’ve come across so many items and companies that I’d recommend to fellow pet parents. This super fun list of gift ideas I’ve come up with includes items that I’ve bought, used or purchased as presents for family and friends. You can trust that my holiday gift guide has been honestly made from personal preference with you in mind!
Wynston’s Weekend Fun!
This is my favorite time of year. Not only do I love the holiday season but it’s finally cool enough to get outside and enjoy the weather! Perfect timing, since Wynston just got his cast off. I decided to celebrate Wynston’s cast coming off by taking him on some new adventures this weekend. He still can’t walk full distances, so our adventures were mostly in the stroller. It was a super fun weekend, nonetheless, and we got some great photos!
Before you buy from a breeder, hear me out…
It’s 5am. The skies are still filled with darkness and the cold is wavering across the pavement. The dogs in the animal shelter begin to rustle, as they hear the sound of jingling keys at the door. The dogs have lived another day to experience a chance at a loving home, or so they think. But then it hits, the euthanasia crew comes in to “do the duty.” A number of dogs get released from their cages one by one. They think they are getting a walk! Love, affection, breakfast…but no. That poor dog never had a chance. They are walking to their death. In an hour they will be laying lifeless in a black plastic bag…
Wynston Got His Cast Off!
It finally happened. After nine weeks of X-rays and 11 vet appointments, my son got his cast taken off! The journey wasn’t easy or enjoyable, and I’m SO glad it’s over. Wynston appeared to become depressed toward the end of these nine weeks, so needless to say we were both ready to get back to normal life.
What’s in a Name: The Origin of “Wynston”
Going as far back as my memory will possibly allow me, I remember my dad always giving me “history lessons” growing up. He would tell me some random historic fact or story about who knows what…all the time. It was constant. Ironic that I would end up with a Bachelor’s degree in history and culture? I suppose my dad just had that big of an impact on me, despite my eye rolling and giggling as he’d teach me about history throughout my childhood. Secretly, I loved it. My dad was, and still is, a history buff and that’s where I got it from. I love history and everything that it teaches us. I guess you’d say it’s no surprise that my endless history knowledge would inspire my heart dog’s name. Let me share with you the origin of “Wynston.”
