Best Friends Animal Society is the nation’s largest non-profit sanctuary for homeless animals. Through kindness toward animals, their mission is to bring about a world where there are no more homeless pets. Aside from the incredible abundance of work that Best Friends Animal Society does at the sanctuary in Utah, the organization also puts on events nationwide to raise money for the cause. One of these fun, well-known events is Strut Your Mutt. I’m super excited to announce that this year Wynston will be a “celebrity dog” at the Strut Your Mutt walk in Phoenix, AZ, and you can come meet him!
#RememberTheRescue: Wynston Taught Me To Love
On this warm fall day, I pulled into the parking lot of Oasis Animal Hospital. Our weekly vet appointment for Wynston’s new cast was already upon us. I snuggled my boy into his chariot, and wheeled him into the clinic, the usual dog mom pep in my step. I checked Wynston in and spoke with our vet tech, Sonya, before releasing him to the back. As I sat on the bench, empty stroller in front of me, I began focusing on my breathing instead of the sounds of barking dogs and screaming children. Then, I did like any normal human being would do – I got on Facebook! I opened the dreaded, yet glorious social media platform only to come face to face with an article about relationships with dogs. And it hit me. I closed my eyes and imagined Wynston behind closed doors getting his new fancy cast put on. Then I imagined my life without him – my miserable, empty life full of sadness that I was living before Wynston dropped into my life. His presence has opened my eyes, mind and heart to the concept of unconditional life. On this #RememberMeThursday, I #RememberTheRescue Wynston. My son, my world, my everything. I want to honor him now and enjoy every single second I have this the creature who’s saved my life.
Feed Animals in Need With PetSmart’s ‘Buy A Bag, Give A Meal’ Program
Most of you know by now that I love PetSmart®. I buy all of my pet supplies there, which includes treats, toys and of course food for my dogs and cats. It’s also well known that Wynston is a model for PetSmart, so you could say that I hold a bit of a bias. Although I frequently rant and rave about PetSmart, it isn’t just because they are a great store and my dog models for them. PetSmart is always working to make the lives of pet better, whether it’s your pet or another animal in need. For their 30th anniversary, PetSmart just announced their biggest philanthropic program ever. They hope to contribute more than 60 million meals with the Buy A Bag, Give A Meal™ campaign.
Wynston’s 5th Doggy Birthday Party!
It seems like just yesterday that Wynston came into my life. That was 4.5 years ago! Time sure does fly, although I wish it would slow down for the sake of my animals. The thought of them getting older truly saddens me. Although Wynston is five years old now, I know he has at least a decade of life left to enjoy! The smaller the dog, the longer the life. With that being said, I don’t take any time with my babies for granted. I’ve thrown Wynston a birthday party since 2013 so this year was no exception, especially living in a bigger, more dog-friendly house! We had so much fun with our friends and I really appreciate everyone who took the time to come see our new house and celebrate another year of Wynston’s life.
