I’m so sick of hearing this news story – “Animal shot dead because human fell into zoo enclosure.” There are way too many problems with this. I don’t know what the ultimate solution is, as every circumstance is different, but I do know that I can’t stand to hear another story about a beautiful creature dying because of a stupid human being.
The first story this week was of a man attempting to commit suicide. A naked man in Chile jumped into the lion enclosure at Santiago Metropolitan Zoo. The zoo staff shot the lions after the man removed his clothes and approached the lions…
First of all, I am sad that no one realized this man needed help. For all we know family and friends could have tried to get this man help but they were unsuccessful. Either way, this man was suicidal and this is how he wanted to go out. So what happens? Two innocent lions, WILD ANIMALS, die because they maul him. He jumped into the enclosure, he gets attacked. What do people expect?
The next story – a four year old child gets attacked by a gorilla because the kid climbed through the railing, over wires and fell into the enclosure at the Cincinnati Zoo. First responders “witnessed a gorilla who was violently dragging and throwing the child,” Cincinnati Fire Department Chief Marc Monahan wrote in a statement. So what happens? The gorilla is shot dead.
The child is alive and thank God for that. BUT, yet another wild animal is killed because of idiot parents who stood by and watched their kid climb through the railing and fall into the gorilla pit. Who’s fault is that???? Where the heck were the parents and what were they doing?
To make matters worse, a witness stated that the child was telling his mom very persistently that he wanted to go into the gorilla enclosure. Kids aren’t stupid but they don’t understand the consequences of their actions. If they want to go pet the gorilla, they are going to do everything they can to do so! And guess what? Now the gorilla is dead because the idiot parent didn’t take proactive measures to ensure their child didn’t act on their words.
A Western lowland silverback gorilla is what attacked the child and got killed because of it. What’s worse is that species is “critically endangered” according to the World Wildlife Fund. UGH! That’s nice – a very endangered gorilla is killed because of people who shouldn’t be reproducing since they aren’t going to pay attention to their kid…
These are huge losses. These are majestic animals losing their lives because of idiot humans. This has got to stop. It’s bad enough that they are in zoos, because apparently zoos aren’t even safe for animals.
When is this madness going to come to an end? It’s one thing for wild animals to be injured or sick and taken to animal sanctuaries to live or be rehabilitated, but these lions and gorilla had absolutely no reason to be cooped up in a zoo and killed. If zoos need to be shut down, then shut them down. How many more beautiful animals are going to be killed on behalf of humans?
Of course these stories leave out people like Cecil the Lion’s killer – monsters who are killing big, gorgeous, endangered animals for greed. It’s got to stop. And soon.

Oh, God, I hadn’t heard that the child begged the parents. That is sickening. There’s no way they could have known the boy would go in, but still . . . . I don’t know if the parents are stupid or careless or not paying enough attention. I want to see them on the news and get a sense of who they are. But my god if only they had been paying close attention! I saw the video of the boy and gorilla in the moat. The gorilla seemed to touch the boy gently and cautiously. I wish I could have seen the whole encounter so I could have an informed opinion. It’s killing me, this beautiful animal minding his own business, then shot. I am sick.

I have read several articles since the incident. Many animal rights groups and gorilla experts are saying that the gorilla was protecting the child. It seemed to be trying to keep the child safe. I got sick to my stomach when I read that. Also in the video the mother is yelling “Mommy’s right here! Mommy’s right here!” If I was that mother, I’d be jumping in there trying to save my kid. The whole situation is insane.

I agree! If I were stupid enough to let my kid roam far enough from me that I didn’t know what he/she was doing and then I saw them in the gorilla enclosure. Yes I would immediately jump in after them. Any caring parent that sees their child in danger barely stops to think before acting. It seems to be instinct, but then again they let the kid alone long enough, out of sight for him to find a way into the gorilla enclosure. Obviously they’re more concerned with their own selves than their kid. Or they expect everyone else to watch out for their kid. We’ll never really know.

Absolutely sickening! Another senseless killing because of the stupidity of a human. What don’t morons understand about animal being wild? I’m at the point that these selfish idiots that put their lives at risk whether it be a zoo attendee or a zoo attendent get what they deserve. Yes that’s a harsh statement however if it weren’t for humam beings these wild animals would be living in their natural habitat not cooped up in a cage so people can gawk at them. Not to mention it probably doesn’t help their demeaner having people gather around them & kids screaming etc

When we start shooting the humans instead of killing the innocent animals, then I will take shit seriously. We let idiots run our entire country doing egregious ha to whomever they please and nothing is done but try to rehabilitate the dumb screws. Only to let them back out again to cause more harm. My sister was a nurse in a state penitentiary with the lifers. They admitted they should never be let out because they would do it again. People are just straight dumb. It’s a certain people, not all, and I think we all know who they are. Let’s thank them all for the absolute horrific crap in this world because they think people deserve a chance…
