Phew. Another Thanksgiving is in the books. Can you believe it?! As we head into a new decade (I have a feeling that 2020 is going to be LIT!), I’m focusing on making plenty of wonderful memories to close out the year. Thanksgiving 2019 was one to remember. Not because it was super crazy or dramatic or over the top, but because I was HAPPY in every sense of the word. I cannot tell you the last time I was legitimately happy around this time of year.
2019 Thanksgiving Day Recap
The holiday season is generally my favorite, but the last few years have been a struggle. However, things changed for me in 2019, as I spent a majority of it on a path to self-discovery. And then my boyfriend, Jordan, and I got together, and everything changed…for the better.
I’ve known Jordan for almost 8 years but we started dating this fall. I have to admit that things are really serious, and I’m beyond thrilled. Jordan is an incredible man who came in and swept me off my feet. Not only does he treat me like an absolute queen, but he treats my animals like his own. He and Wynston are bonding like crazy, and Jordan’s done everything he can to gain my son’s trust. Nothing means more to me than that.
Our Thanksgiving was actually fairly “normal.” We spent our morning watching football and the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade (one of my favorite traditions). We all relaxed on the couch and simply enjoyed our quality time together. I prefer taking it easy on Thanksgiving and Christmas, as I’ve never been one for all the “hoopla.” And our 2019 Turkey Day was just that.
Around 2:30pm Jordan and I loaded Wynston into the car and headed to my Grandma’s. She lives only about 15 minutes away. Grandma is my dad’s mom, who I get all of my good genes from 😉 This would be the first time that Grandma met Jordan.
And it went swimmingly.
We had an absolutely wonderful 4 hours at my Grandma’s house. She made an incredible meal, as usual, and it was really a casual gathering. Nothing stressful or crazy. Just family, food and fun.
Of course Wynston got a ton of attention. My dad and Grandma love to brag about how amazing he is and the fact that he’s a model. Everyone is always amazed by how well behaved my son is. But let’s be honest – I raised him. 😉
Everyone at my Grandma’s LOVED Jordan. My dad and brother had already met him, so the boys spent some time chatting and smoking fine cigars. It was really, really great.
After Grandma’s house, we spent the evening relaxing again. For me, it was the perfect day. Great food, amazing company and zero anxiety.
This morning I received a lovely text from my Grandma. It went like this:
“Hi Amanda. I just wanted to tell you that you what a nice boyfriend you have. I really liked him. He is a keeper! Love Grandma.”
I agree, Grandma. I agree.
How was your Thanksgiving?
(Side note: I’m SO glad that Cowboys lost! LOL!)

I’m glad things smoothed out for you. I’m late in my emails, but it was nice to hear about your thanksgiving and of course, I LOVE the pix of Winston. I’m trying to send you some of little Lea, don’t know if i can figure that out
