“Where can I adopt a dog from? What are some good dog groomers? Do you know of any good veterinarians? Where can I board my dog?” These are common questions I get from my Arizona friends, so I’ve put together a list of my recommendations for you! (And if you live outside of Arizona this list may give you some ideas as to where to look for these services.)
My Suggested Arizona Veterinarians
Oasis Animal Hospital: I’ve been bringing my animals to Oasis for 5+ years. I love all of the staff there and the owner, Dr. Tenney, is a one-of-a-kind human being. I trust all of the doctors with the well-being of my animals.
Arizona Animal Wellness Center: This vet has great service, techs and doctors. They even have an urgent care service for Saturdays, which costs about the same as a regular vet visit and it’s a much better option than going to an emergency vet (unless of course your pet’s health issue can’t wait!).
Little Critters Veterinary Hospital: Dr. Jill Patt is an amazing person and veterinarian who sees dogs, cats AND exotic animals! You can’t go wrong with her. She truly wants what’s best for your pets.
1st Pet Vet: I took Wynston to a 1st Pet Veterinary center at 9pm on a Saturday night for a scorpion sting. Not only did all of the staff have smiles on their faces but we were in and out of there in less than an hour! Amazing care and service.
My Suggested Arizona Dog Groomers
Aunt Donna’s Grooming: I used to take Khloee to Aunt Donna’s grooming. They always did a good job and their groomers were very kind. I felt good taking Khloee there. I changed to mobile grooming simply because Khloee’s anxiety was way too terrible when I’d leave her there (she has separation anxiety). Other friends have had great success at Aunt Donna’s as well.
AZ Pet Stylist: This is Khloee’s current groomer. Our groomer is Mandy and she’s absolutely fantastic. I love that Khloee gets groomed in a luxurious trailer right in front of our home so I can check on her any time I want. Plus I don’t have to worry about driving to and from the groomer. It’s much better for Khloee to just have to walk to the front of our house.
My Suggested Dog Boarding Facility
Happy Pets Palace & Playground: I admit I have a bias for Happy Pets Palace because I do their marketing. However, Happy Pets Palace is an award winning luxury boarding facility. Your dog isn’t cooped up in a kennel all day. There are indoor and outdoor play yards with high quality playground equipment and each yard is separated based on the dog’s size and temperament. Each dog gets 8 hours of doggy daycare each day of boarding. Happy Pets Palace has live webcams so you can check in on your dog, and the owner, Linda, will also check in with you so you know how your baby is doing. This is the only dog boarding facility I recommend. The staff treats each dog like their own and no other boarding facility even comes close to matching everything Happy Pets Palace has to offer.
My Suggested Arizona Animal Rescues
Maricopa County Animal Control: This is the “dreaded” county shelter, which is overcrowded with dogs and cats. All of the animals there deserve a second chance. The adoption fees are super inexpensive, which includes a spay/neuter surgery and vaccinations. MCACC gets a bad rap and it’s really not fair to overlook the animals there because you don’t agree with facility regulations or standards. Get over yourselves…
Arizona Animal Welfare League: (AAWL) Arizona’s largest and oldest no-kill shelter. Recently I toured the shelter to see all of the behind-the-scenes workings. The facility is fantastic and the staff is wonderful. I highly recommend AAWL for adopting a pet.
Friends for Life Animal Rescue: F4L is a local Gilbert rescue. Although it’s a small rescue, they work hard to take care of animals that need a lot of extra medical or social attention. I am so grateful for all of the faces behind Friends for Life. They are people with BIG hearts.
PetSmart Charities: PetSmart has national and local adoption events. They work with a plethora of dog and cat rescues around the country. It’s easy to check and see if there’s an event coming up near you so you possibly find a new furry friend!
There are tons of great vets, rescues and groomers in Arizona but this list narrows it down. I always suggest doing your research before you choose a new service for your dog or cat. Also be sure to research breeds before you adopt a new dog. Here are some things to consider before adopting a new dog.
Are there any great rescues, vets, groomers or boarders that you like to use in Arizona or your area? Tell me what makes them so awesome!
