Chase Field to Become the First Dog-Friendly MLB Ballpark in the U.S.

February 29, 2016 By Amanda 4 Comments

Dog-friendly Chase Field

This is super big news.  Well, for me at least.  I’ve been a HUGE Arizona Diamondbacks fan since I was 13 years old.  I watch every game of every season.  I’ve been to playoff games, too many spring training games and have waited long hours for player autographs.  Two years ago, Matt and I took Wynston to “Bark in the Park,” a dog friendly baseball game at the D-back’s Chase Field.  The proceeds benefited the AAWL and we had a designated area to sit during the game.  It was amazing.  I just wished that I could take Wynston to a game whenever I want – and that dream just came true.

PetSmart corporate is based out of AZ.  We’re also a very dog friendly state.  So put those two together and what do you get?  A dog-friendly MLB ballpark!

Dog-friendly Chase Field

  • The Arizona Diamondbacks and PetSmart are partnering up to make the first ballpark that welcomes dogs all season long, starting with the 2016 season.
  • The PetSmart Patio will be along the main concourse behind the left-center field wall. There will be multi-tiered seating for families and dogs of all kinds, so your whole family can be comfortable.
  • There will be an air-conditioned dog park so you can take your dog for some fun and exercise during the game!

Dog Days of Summer

This is a baseball loving, dog mom’s dream.  The Diamondbacks are going to offer a special ticket package where pets can enjoy special doggy ice cream with kibble toppings and other snacks!  The package also comes with a bag full of PetSmart swag!

“We are excited to create a unique dog-friendly area of our ballpark and can think of no better way than to partner with Phoenix-based PetSmart,” Diamondbacks president and CEO, Derrick Hall said in a media release.”

Want to purchase your Dog Days of Summer tickets now? The first home game is on April 10 against the Chicago Cubs, and packages are available! For more info and to buy, call 602-462-4600.

Needless to say, I am beyond excited about this.  I told Matt that he won’t be seeing me much this summer because I’ll mostly be at Chase Field with Wynston!  This is going to be amazing!  The first dog-friendly ballpark in the country?!  YES PLEASE!

Wow! That is so cool! Our local minor league team has Bark in the Park twice a season – it would be great if it was all the time!
