I love cars. Yes, little old me…I LOVE cars. I used to race cars on road courses and drag strips, I’ve restored historic vehicles and I’ve even been published in a car magazine – twice. You read that correctly…
I know it sounds really crazy. Many people don’t see me as a car person and it often surprises people. I own a 2012 Dodge Challenger and I absolutely love it. I bought it brand new in 2012 and it opened a lot of doors for me, no pun intended.
I used to go to several car shows a week. We’re talking 3-5 shows. And that’s when I was working a 9-5 job! I loved it, but it was definitely exhausting. Car shows are very popular in Arizona because the weather is nice year round and we don’t have any intense snow or rain that will rust beautiful vehicles. One thing that you see a lot at car shows – Chihuahuas.
Weird, right? Wrong. Now, a majority of people who bring their cars to shows are men. I break many stereotypes. But anyways, the man brings the car, the woman brings the dog…at least, that’s how it typically goes.
I used to see the cutest dogs at car shows. Most of them were Chihuahuas because it’s easy to hold a Chi and walk around. I rarely brought Wynston to shows because he was not okay with the roar of loud engines and obnoxious “car people” running around all over the place.
Wynston does, however, love my Challenger. He sits in the front seat like he’s speed racer. Nice smooth ride, arctic air conditioning, cozy seats – you can’t beat it!
The first time I was published in Chrysler Power magazine was spring 2013. I appeared in the magazine again in August 2013. You can also check out numerous online articles about me. You may still be shocked, but hey, now you know something new and interesting about me! My dad and I now have father-daughter Challengers, which is very fitting considering I get my love of cars from him. Too bad I can’t get Wynston a little doggy Challenger to ride in…
How does your dog feel about your car?!

You’re full of surprises! Your car is beautiful. My dad likes classic cars and we’ve gone to some car shows together. We are a Subaru family – I am on my third one., a 2014 Impreza (my dream car is a WRX). Subarus are practical for life with dogs in Colorado.

It’s funny because I rarely drive my Challenger (I drive a Mazda as a daily driver) but I took it out this weekend and realized it’s not something I’ve really shared but it’s something I’m so proud of! I have a lot of friends who modify Subarus and race them. The most fun car I ever drove on a road course was a Subaru STI.

My mom has a PT Cruiser and I have a special seat in the front and I love it!!!

How fun is that?! My babies love car rides!

My husband has a Corvette, but doesn’t let our Jake inside it. Jake sheds A LOT, and Jon would never go for that. Jake does go for lots of rides in our Chevy Aveo though. No problem there. Thanks for sharing.

My dad has a Corvette also! It just sits in the garage and goes out on weekends so I understand that!

I think Wynston needs one of those Ferrari(?) dog beds if he doesn’t have one already! I don’t think they make Challenger ones lol.
Amanda says
That is brilliant! I should totally get him one!

Haha that is so cool! My girls love car rides and think it is the best thing in the world!
Amanda says
They are! I’m glad your girls don’t get car sick either!

I agree, you ARE full of surprises! 🙂 I love the Challenger. My first car, back in the day, was the Plymouth sister to the Challenger, the Barracuda. Man, what I’d give to have that car back! 🙂

I LOVE the old Plymouth vehicles. The 1960s to early 70s era of cars is my favorite! I bet it was beautiful.
