This has been a big year for Matt and I. We got engaged in January and right now we’re in the process of buying a new home. We close on June 30th and move in the weekend of July 1st! Our wedding is on 12/29/16 and as soon as we move into our new home, the wedding planning must proceed. In the midst of purchasing our new home, which is on 1/3 acre, I was thinking about some of our wedding plans. While pondering how fun the event will be, an idea came to my head. Why not have the wedding rehearsal dinner at our house since our new home is so much bigger than our current one and the yard is massive and gorgeous? Brilliant. I ran it by Matt and my mom, who both agreed that it’d be perfect. The best part? Dogs are welcome! That’s right, I’m having a dog-friendly wedding rehearsal dinner.
Having a Dog-Friendly Wedding Rehearsal Dinner
All of the specifics have yet to be worked out, but I have several crafty, fun ideas for the dinner going through my head. Instead of having a formal or even semi-formal rehearsal dinner, it’s just going to be one big party. We’ll have it catered, decorate the backyard with Christmas lights and have a blast! Want to wear jeans and a t-shirt? Great! And bring your dog!
Our guest list is small, at 50-60 people. Some of them are coming from out of state but most of our guests live here in Arizona. Since obviously my three dogs will be at my rehearsal dinner, I want to invite my guests to bring their dogs as well. After all, dogs are family and why wouldn’t I invite family?! There’s so much grass and space for them to run 🙂
Our new house has a formal dining and living room (YAY!) so there will be plenty of space inside between the family room, kitchen, dining room and living room. We plan to set up chairs and tables up outside as well. It may be a bit chilly but we can rent heaters and people can always hang out inside. But the dogs will love it!
I plan to have treats for the dogs in attendance as well as human food that you can share with your dogs. I just ask that whoever decides to bring their dogs is aware of how their dogs behave around a lot of people and other dogs. There may be a few kids there as well.
Khloee, Wynston and McKenzie Rae will be our flower girls and ring bearer at our wedding. Khloee and McKenzie’s gorgeous gowns are currently being custom made by C H Couture. They are going to be magnificent! Here are some ways that you can include dogs in your wedding!
Have you ever been to a dog-friendly wedding rehearsal dinner? Or had one of your own?
