Dogs’ Day in the Garden is a semi-annual event held at the Desert Botanical Garden in Arizona. This relaxing affair benefits the Arizona Humane Society. Last time I went to this event was in 2014, and I’m happy to report that the January 2017 dogs’ day was even more fun!
I brought my mom along with Wynston and I, which made our day extra special. There were lots of people and gorgeous dogs. I saw too many prong collars for my liking, but that’s for another blog post…
The weather was absolutely perfect; 63° and sunny. We couldn’t have asked for a better day to be outside!
Dogs’ Day in the Garden Activities
- Special canine-related presentations
- Doga (dog yoga)
- Samples of dog treats
- Vendors
- Dog adoptions
While the activities and vendors are an exciting part of Dogs’ Day in the Garden, the best part for me was enjoying the desert scenery. The true beauty of Arizona’s landscape is showcased in such a magnificent way. The views are breathtaking and there is history looming throughout the garden. Apache structures are scattered along the trail, which I absolutely appreciate because I studied the Apache Indian tribe in college.
Typically the Desert Botanical Garden holds another Dogs’ Day in the Garden in the fall, so I’m hoping to make it again if they do! I didn’t get to go this past November because I was busy planning my wedding! The garden also offers classes, workshops and other fun events all year round.
There are lots of wonderful pet events in Arizona. Do you have any outdoor pet events in your area?
