Meesi. Bud. Buddy Pal. Meesa. Meesins. Siamese; these are all nicknames I’ve come up with in the last year of having Leila in my life. I think “Bud” is probably the most used, simply because my baby Siamese has transformed into my serious buddy. She’s my pal. I can’t believe it’s been a year since this girl blessed me with her presence. Over the span of this past year, I’ve come to believe that perhaps Leila was put in my life by way of my heart cat, Edison.
Happy Gotcha Day, Leila!
For so long I wanted to add another cat to our household. Edison ran away in July 2013 but I grieved (and am still grieving) for so long. I felt like I couldn’t adopt a new cat because I’d be replacing him. I also knew that when the time was right, a new sassy feline would show up in my life. And boy, I was right!
It was love at first sight when I laid eyes on Leila for the first time. That little two-pounder with bright blue eyes connected with my soul. And I’m happy to say that our souls still connect every time I look into my Buddy’s eyes.
I got what I wanted with Leila – a cat that wants my attention and appreciates my affection. Leila comes running when I call her. She sleeps on my shoulder or neck at night. She lets me hold her like a baby all the time. She lets me kiss her face constantly. We have meaningful conversations….
Leila is no doubt a mommy’s girl. Thankfully she gets along with all of my other kids, and she’s been the perfect addition to our family. She’s very close with McKenzie Rae, so close in fact that I wrote an entire blog post about it! She’s also extremely motherly.
Buddy Pal loves spending time outside but she’ll come right to me when I call her. She enjoys playing with toys and hunting me down so she can take naps on my shoulders. I’ve deemed her my “shoulder monkey.” I’m SO glad Leila never outgrew sleeping on my shoulders. She’s done it since she was a wee kitten. I expected Bud to get much larger than she is but oddly she is still a petite cat. I love it because she isn’t super heavy when she sleeps on my throat at night, ahahaha!
I can’t believe how quickly this year has gone by (and thank goodness because 2017 has sucked). I still feel like Leila is very much a kitten, and I don’t think she’ll get any bigger since she’s an adult now. My Buddy Pal was worth waiting the 3+ years for. SO many of her mannerisms remind me of Edison, and I believe she crossed my path for a reason.
I love you, Meesins! Happy first Gotcha Day!
