I was really excited for today. My girlfriends and I had plans to take our pups to Vertruccio Farms, which has a dog friendly corn maze and pumpkin patch. We went last year and it was an absolute blast! Well, when we drove into the parking lot this morning, our plans changed quickly.
Initially we thought that Friday morning would be a great time to go. People are at work and kids are in school, right?! Wrong. The line to get into the farm was insane and the parking lot was almost to the point of being full…at 10am! We figured it wasn’t a good idea to take our group of dogs into a place that was not only crazy but also was flooded with children. We moved on to visit The Coffee Shop at Agritopia and walk around for some photos instead.
Even the coffee shop was nuts. What the heck is everyone doing?! Don’t they have jobs or something?! 😉
We decided to walk the dogs around a bit so we could get some energy out of them and take some photos. Well, Khloee and Wynston decided today would be a great day to have poor behavior. They were not listening. at. all. I normally take one dog on the outings I go to with friends and today I remembered why. Khloee just wants to do her own thing all the time. Around other dogs she has no listening skills. Wynston is really great but he was losing focus because of his crazy sister. I was getting super frustrated. They wouldn’t even sit and stay for a photo. Khloee isn’t in several photos because she just wouldn’t sit. I don’t think I’ve ever been that frustrated with my kids. No matter how many treats I used, Khloee would just not focus.
Okay, so dogs have off days too. I felt bad that I was getting mad at Wynston due to my frustration toward Khloee. I ended up leaving early because I didn’t want to reward my dog’s bad behavior anymore. It’s also not a good idea to try and train dogs when you’re frustrated or irritated. I only use positive reinforcement methods, so I decided that it was just time to go home. The whole morning was a bummer for me, but it was just an off day and we all have them. Surprisingly my friends and I managed to get some cute photos. I really appreciate my girlfriends for understanding my pain this morning. Next time I will just take one dog, as I normally do. And hopefully next year we can do the pumpkin patch again!
We all have tough days. Wynston and Khloee aren’t always perfect. Do your dogs ever have “off days?”

I’m sorry you had a frustrating time today! I SO know your pain. My dogs can be like that sometimes, too! That’s awesome your friends were patient with them!

My friends are very patient because all of their dogs have moments too. Today was tough and hopefully I will deal with it better next time!

Yes! We all have our off days! I notice that the poodles display poor behavior more often when something is going on in my life that is a little different. Good call to just go home and not respond in anger, that takes patience!

It was hard to be patient LOL! But I didn’t want to get angry, so we left. It was the right decision. Poodles can be crazy 😉

I’m sorry you had such a frustrating day. You’d never know it from the pictures…they are all adorable! We went to Vertruccio Farms a couple of Saturdays ago, and there were very few people there. Go figure!

I think it’s getting crazy because it’s so close to Halloween. Now we know better for next year!!!
