I hate animal abusers.
I think animal abusers are some of the lowest, most scum bag people around. And worse? Animal killers.
There is nothing I am more passionate about than animal rights. I recently wrote a post about how I speak up for animals no matter what. Maybe people think I’m “too confrontational” or a dog getting mistreated is “none of my business.” Well, those people are wrong. Any person or animal that is being mistreated deserves another able bodied being to speak up for them. If you abuse your pet in front of me, you can bet there will be hell to pay.
When I heard about Cecil the lion, I was shocked, outraged and beyond heartbroken. Jimmy Kimmel put it perfectly when he said “Why are you shooting a lion in the first place? I’m honestly curious to know why a human being would feel compelled to do that. How is that fun?”
This low life dentist, who doesn’t deserve to have his named mentioned on my blog, has taken many other victims before Cecil. A beautiful cheetah, a gorgeous rhino and other innocent wild animals. Let’s be real here…is this guy serious? He even got in trouble by the National Fish and Wildlife services in the past and lied to them! Disgusting.
I don’t believe in hunting. Debate me all you want but I think hunting is inhumane. I have no idea how killing innocent animals in the wild is “a sport.” I will not argue with you about it, because in the end, it’s just not right to kill a beautiful creature that can’t stick up for itself!
Cecil was protected in a wildlife preserve by park rangers. He was locally loved and photographed by researchers and animal lovers worldwide. Now let’s think about this for a minute. This dentist paid at least $50,000 to have hunters lure Cecil out of his protected area with a dead yak so he could kill him, according to Zimbabwe authorities.
This is insanity. That is mental illness. You are not right in the head if you think it’s super fun to lure a majestic creature out of his protected habitat to shoot him with a bow and arrow. You sir, deserve the a bow and arrow to the head, or worse. The two guides that took the dentist to kill the Cecil have already been arrested and are facing up to 10 years in jail.
This man has a wife. This man has children. This man has coworkers and friends (although hopefully his friends and coworkers said hell with you!). Where the heck were they when he was talking about “Oh, I’m going to kill some big exotic animals in Africa for fun!” Why didn’t someone say something to the liking of “Um, why on Earth would you do that? That is not right.” What is he going to tell his children? “It’s okay kids, I killed a lion and a rhino but no big deal!” What a scum bag.
Just like that piece of crap dentist, Cecil had a wife and children too! Okay so maybe they didn’t have a wedding ceremony with cake and a big white dress, but I guarantee you that Cecil loved his family as much as that dentist loves his family. And you know what? That poor girl and her babies are going to be mourning the loss of their patriarch, all because of some low life, whack job person.
I won’t go into detail about what punishment I think the killer dentist deserves, but I’m glad there has been so much public outrage. I think it’s important for people to understand how precious an animal’s life is. I know the photos are sad and the videos hurt, but sometimes it’s the only way to educate people. I’m sure the dentist is regretting it and I’m sure he’s living in a life of hell at the moment. That’s what he deserves. I know I wouldn’t want to associate with a lion killer, whether family, neighbor, friend or coworker. Forget it.
Nothing will bring Cecil back. Nothing will bring back the other gorgeous animals who have died at the hands of the dentist. But I do know that from this there has been awareness spread and hopefully it will cause some more action for animal protection.
As for Cecil’s pride, I mourn for them. I wish I could tell them I am sorry that my kind can be so cruel-hearted. People like the dentist make Americans look like a bunch of mindless, money hungry idiots.
In the meantime, the dentist has gone into hiding. No surprise there. There were hundreds of people protesting outside his massive Minnesota home and dental office. You can bet I’d be one of those people if I was there. I sure hope he gets prosecuted along with his two guides. This isn’t the first offense for him and now it’s time he pay for it.
I might add that this is not just about Cecil. It’s about standing up for innocent animals everywhere, especially against acts of such inhumane cruelty.
