Christmas is over. Can you believe it? For the first time ever, I’m glad. I’ve always been obsessed with Christmas but 2017 was a nightmare. And now that we’re moving, there’s just so much to do. I’m happy we went to California to spend Christmas with family, but I’m also ready to get on with the new year. Oh, and Wynston and I are in Austin, Texas right now. We’re traveling to ring in 2018! Bring it on!
Christmas in California
As you know, Matt and I have a house in California, so that’s where we went for Christmas. The house is in La Verne, a suburb of East LA county. All of Matt’s close family is in that area, so it works out nicely. Matt and I arrived on Saturday with all three kids in tow.
On Sunday for Christmas Eve we enjoyed a relaxing day then had the family over for a delicious Italian feast! Everyone loved the dogs and I was so proud of how well behaved they were. I got lots of compliments on how excellent they all were despite the massive human interaction and commotion. You can imagine they got LOTS of food that night 😉
After dinner we opened some family presents from Matt’s grandma, where the kids each got a super fun new toy! It makes me one happy dog mom when folks buy gifts for my babies. And then to see them play with the toys just makes my heart melt. It’s such a blessing that I have a family who appreciates the fact that my dogs are my kids.
A highlight of my trip? Meeting the neighbor dog! Are you surprised? 😉 This sweet baby was an absolute doll. A rescue Border Collie mix, I just wanted to take her home. The neighbors brought over some Christmas cookies so, of course, we started talking about dogs. Then they walked over their beauty so I could meet her. I’m thinking she may have some Bernese Mountain Dog in her. What do you think?
The weather was absolutely gorgeous in California for Christmas. The high was in the low 70s everyday. Can’t beat it, really. Wynston, Khloee and McKenzie Rae spent lots of time outside enjoying the sun. It was actually warmer in Cali than Arizona but my babes didn’t mind! If it’s not going to snow on Christmas day, might as well give me some magnificent weather to take advantage of.
For Christmas Day, we packed up the car and headed a whole ten minutes to Matt’s uncle Rick’s house. He owns an incredible sprawl in the mountains, and it sure was glorious. Wynston definitely enjoy the backyard, which you could say was big enough for an 8 pounder 😉 Once again, we chowed down on delicious tri-tip steak, ribs and other barbecue delicacies. Wynston received an adorable neck tie from Rick, and he was the talk of the party. I mean, what else would you expect?!
The day after Christmas Matt and I headed to Disneyland! It was nuts but the perfect weather and holiday decor was totally worth it. The best part was seeing Sleeping Beauty’s castle lit up at night, then experiencing snow on Main Street! Talk about a magical moment. The lights dimmed, different music came on, and snow began filling the air. I was extremely mindful in the moment, as everyone got quiet and took in the beauty that was pouring down upon us.
I’m grateful that we had a prosperous Christmas holiday filled with family, delicious food and fun! I admit that my body hurts after several days of madness, but it’s worth it. Wynston and I flew into Austin, TX yesterday, as we got our trip paid for! (Yay for being a pet blogger)! I’m thrilled to be ringing in the new year with close friends.
How was your Christmas? Are you doing anything fun for New Year’s?
