Wynston and I leave for our big Southwestern road trip a week from today! But first – we were pining for some relaxation in Payson at my mom’s second home! We enjoyed our time there as usual, and it sure did get us in the road-trippin’ spirit. This was Wynston’s first trip up to Payson since mom adopted Cooper, so check out our wonderful photos and super cute videos.
August 2017 Trip to Payson, AZ
Wynston and I arrived in Payson around 11am on 8/23/17. Since it was a Wednesday, there was no traffic heading up north, making for an extremely easy drive. Mom, David and I looked at some houses in the afternoon after enjoying some lunch, and we all took an snooze before dinner time. Wynston spent lots of time playing with Cooper, mom and David’s new rescue puppy, so Wyn definitely didn’t mind resting for a couple hours.
In the evening we all went to our favorite local bar, the Buffalo. Although the restaurant was dead (again, Wednesday), it was still fun and the food is always delicious. By the time 9pm rolled around, we were all tired from the super fun day. Wynston and I were snuggling in bed by 10pm and slept until 8am this morning.
We were so fortunate that we also got to experience an amazing rain storm over night. We love rain, since we rarely see it, and it left everything smelling fresh and incredible in the early morning hours. After breakfast mom and I decided to take Wynston and Cooper on a leisurly walk to a nearby man-made lake. Much to our surprise, there was water in the creek! Being Arizonans, we were stoked to see water flowing under the bridge, and before I knew it, Wynston was splashing around in the creek! I was absolutely shocked to see him doing so, as Wyn isn’t a huge fan of water. The depth was only a couple of inches, but it was enough to make for some phenomenal photo and videos ops. We were so proud of Cooper for staying right by us while he was briefly off leash. Positive reinforcement training is incredibly effective!
After our beautiful walk, Wynston and I headed home. I needed to get back to work, and Wynston is resting from all of the excitement. I can’t wait to head out to New Mexico and Texas next week. It’s going to be an amazing trip with my son! Our short Payson trip was perfect for getting us into travel mode for our adventure next week.
