I came across PureBites treats at Pet Club, my local natural pet food store. Wynston’s health is extremely important for me so I either feed him homemade treats, or something natural, made in the USA of course. I was looking specifically for something super healthy and light colored so it’s easy to see on the grass in agility class. That’s when I discovered PureBites freeze dried chicken treats.
I contacted PureBites, as I couldn’t find much information on the company and they agreed to send me a box of treats in exchange for an honest review. Well, let me tell you, I love these treats, and most importantly, Wynston will do anything for them.
The treats, whether for cats or dogs, are made of one ingredient only. Chicken, bison liver and beef liver are the flavors that Wynston tried. The package literally says “One ingredient: Chicken.” The treats are made in the USA, high in protein and less than 9 calories per treat.
My favorite of the 3 treat flavors Wynston tried is the chicken because it tears just like chicken…well, because it is! It shreds easily which is great for agility training. It’s softer than the other two which might be nice for dogs with more sensitive teeth. The beef liver is a little harder but still breaks easily and Wynston enjoys that flavor as well. He didn’t take to the bison liver, which was very hard for me to break. But he has small teeth and a small mouth! I bet the bison liver is very delicious!
For my cats, PureBites was generous enough to send me shrimp and chicken! Sadie loves the chicken treats but didn’t like the shrimp so much (which disappointed me because they are super cute, tiny shrimps!) Since Sadie didn’t eat the shrimp, it just means more for Joey and Wynston!
PureBites treats are an excellent price for the nutritional value. You can grab a 1.23oz (entry size) bag of dog treats (shown above) for around $5 at Pet Club! PureBites offers other size bags as well – mid size, value size and super value size.
Dog treat flavors include:
– bison liver
– turkey breast
– duck liver
– trail mix
– beef liver
– chicken breast
– cheddar cheese
– ocean whitefish
The cat treat bags are smaller of course, with entry size and value size available. The bags run anywhere from $3-$5.
Cat treat flavors include:
– turkey
– shrimp
– ocean whitefish
– beef liver
– chicken breast
A few quick facts about PureBites:
– They are made with only 1 ingredient in the USA.
– Less than 9 calories per treat.
– 100% pure USDA inspected bison liver.
– PureBites are now the #1 selling dog treat at several pet retailers.
Overall, I couldn’t be happier with PureBites treats for Wynston, Joey and Sadie. I love the fact that they are natural, healthy and made in the USA. What’s better than knowing exactly what your pet is eating? I would recommend PureBites treats to anyone. I honestly can’t wait to try the other flavors. So far, the chicken treats have been great for Wynston’s agility and I will continue to use them.

Hi! There usually is a lot of “crumbs” at the bottom of the bag. Do you have creative ideas on making use of these? I give the dog treats to my cats. I thought ice cube trays but not sure a cat would go for that. Thanks!

Sorry, I’m not replying but I’m making the same comment. I’m wondering if there’s some thing you can do with the crumbs as well

My senior dog has loved Pure Bites chicken treats for about five months. This month we got a bad bag— brownish, hard and irregular shapes and terrible, rancid smell. The company said it was because too much fat was left on the chicken during processing. So I bought two more bags that appeared to be ok. My dog is not having any of it. He will eat the crumbs from the older bag but turns up his nose at the newer bags. I wonder if there have been major changes in the processing…..

I’ve also noticed the quality has dwindled.

I sent this to Pure Bites on 5/6/22… Chewy/Pure Bites. I have purchased 2 bags of Pure Bites freeze dried chicken breast dog treats from Chewy that have a distinct horrific odor as soon as I open the bag. Chewy replaced the first bag after I notified them. The next bag was ok. I got another bag 2 weeks ago and one yesterday. I opened the new bag and it has that same rotten odor. I checked what was left in the bag from 2 weeks ago and it’s beginning to smell the same way. I’m concerned because I had sprinkled some powdered pieces from that bag on the kibble my dog ate yesterday. About 2 hrs later she began vomiting and vomited for an hour till nothing remained in her digestive track. This is very concerning since I now have had 3 bags with the same smell. It actually smells like rotten/spoiled food and dead fish. I’ve been buying these and giving them to my dogs for years and never had any bags that smelled like this. I’m attaching a photo of the back of this newest bag.
I won’t be buying them again.
