This year has been terrible for me. My stepdad has stage four cancer, which has basically made everything suck. My depression has been up and down, and the sadness in my family has been real. But what’s the one constant in my life that I can always depend on? My animals. My babies are always there for me no matter what. Whether I’m having a horrible day or a rare wonderful day, my dogs and cats love me and show no judgement. Sometimes I feel like a bad mom because my depression gets me down, but my six kids always help me stay afloat. It’s Pet Appreciation Week, so I want to share some ways that you can show your pets appreciation!
I rescued Wynston in February 2012. He was about 2.5lbs of skin and bones. Wynston was deteriorating from neglect and abuse, but little did he know what type of life he’d come to live.
I remember having some toys for Wynston when I first brought him home, but my fondest memory was going to PetSmart a few weeks after rescuing him to pick up some extra goodies. “Easter” became part of our family that night!
Most of you know by now that I love PetSmart®. I buy all of my pet supplies there, which includes treats, toys and of course food for my dogs and cats. It’s also well known that Wynston is a model for PetSmart, so you could say that I hold a bit of a bias. Although I frequently rant and rave about PetSmart, it isn’t just because they are a great store and my dog models for them. PetSmart is always working to make the lives of pet better, whether it’s your pet or another animal in need. For their 30th anniversary, PetSmart just announced their biggest philanthropic program ever. They hope to contribute more than 60 million meals with the Buy A Bag, Give A Meal™ campaign.
Christmas tiiiime is heeeeere *sung in the tune of A Charlie Brown Christmas*. Every year my gift list seems to get longer, and well, it actually did this year. Since the addition of Leila to our family, I now have six animals. As a dog mom it’s important that I present my dogs and cats with gifts on Christmas. I know they don’t know the difference, but I know how special it is, so that’s why I do it! Plus I love excuse to buy my kids treats and toys. As my gift to you, I’ve concocted a list of inexpensive Christmas gifts for your pet that you can buy or make without breaking the bank.
‘Tis the season for tricks and treats! I don’t know about your cats, but mine will most definitely take treats over tricks any day. With Halloween fun right around the corner, how about getting your fancy felines in on the action? The air is crisp, the apples are ripe and the new fall limited edition orange Purina® Friskies® Pull ‘n Play treat pack is in PetSmart stores now! What’s that you say? You aren’t acquainted with Wobbert yet?! Well, let us introduce you and your kitties to him! He’s sure to bring enriching playtime to your household.
