Getting ready for an hour road trip is much different than preparing for a long road trip with your dog. When I say “long” road trip, I mean 6+ hours. In this post I share the ways I ready myself and Wynston for such adventures, and many of these tips can be used for any road trip, despite length. I go through a process to make sure that Wynston and I are prepared for extensive road trips, especially when I know we’ll be in the car for almost 12 hours. I hope this post is helpful for you. Safe and happy travels!
Lake Havasu City, AZ: Home to Dog-Friendly Bars, Boats & Beaches
Lake Havasu City is the first place I’ve ever visited with Wynston where I was overwhelmed by the possibilities. I knew the city was a popular destination for water sports and vacation, but it’s really so much more. Lake Havasu City is a fun place for people of all ages and interests. Whether you want to visit a dog-friendly bar, take a boat excursion or do some seaside shopping, the area has something for you. Our trip to Lake Havasu did not disappoint, and we ended up doing much more than anticipated. In this post not only do I share our experiences, but I also share reviews from all the places we visited. I also have a couple of fun side stories to share. I hope you enjoy our recap!
Our Upcoming Trip to Lake Havasu + 4Knines Car Seat Cover Giveaway!
I’ve lived in Arizona for 20 years, but as I’ve become more well-traveled in the last couple of years I’ve realized that I’ve seen so little of our beautiful state. Sure, I’ve been to all of the major areas of Arizona and I’ve experienced tourist sites like the Grand Canyon and Tombstone, but there is so much I have yet to explore. Recently my stepdad took a trip to Lake Havasu, AZ and that was my inspiration for our upcoming trip. Wynston and I are heading there on February 20th, and 4Knines is our sponsor! To celebrate, we’re giving away a 4Knines car seat cover of the winner’s choice.
Our Plans to Travel the Country in an RV
Ever since I was a little kid I’ve had this dream of traveling in an RV. I remember my dad would take my sister and I to RV shows in Indianapolis (where I grew up), and I was so enamored by these homes on wheels. I just thought it was the coolest thing ever. Now at 30 years old, I still think RVs are the coolest thing ever. All of these years later, despite my love for RVs, I’ve never traveled in one. And here’s the kicker – now I want to live in one full time so I can travel with country with Wynston. And I’m about to make it happen.
7 Snacks to Share With Your Dog on a Road Trip
Not only have I become passionate about traveling with Wynston, but I’ve taken a particular interest in how to travel on a budget. Part of traveling with your dog on a budget includes bringing your own snacks.
When you pack your own food, you save money and generally eat healthier. So grab a cooler and pack these snacks to share with your dog on a road trip!
