Our big cross country trip in October will be my longest road trip yet. The furthest I have driven from Arizona is 17 hours.
But this trip isn’t a 10 day undertaking. Wynston and I will be on the road for 5 weeks!
While I research the areas we will be visiting, I’ve been concocting a list of things I want to do during our trip across the US.
Cross Country US Road Trip Bucket List
As Wynston and I traverse the United States, below is the list of things I’d really like to check off our “to-do” list:
Try Local Beers
I love trying new beers when I travel! It’s my way of getting a taste of local culture (aside from the fact that I’m an absolute foodie). Going to locally owned dog-friendly bars and breweries is one of my favorite things to do. I hope to check this item off in Miami Beach with my sister.
Visit a Historic Site
My Bachelor’s degree is in history and culture, so I will always have a love for history. I’m attracted to historic sites, especially if they are related to American wars.
I know there are some beautiful historic locations to check out on the East Coast, and I am pumped! I have a thing for taking photos of Wynston in front of old mansions and battlefields.
I’m excited to see what kind of history we can acquaint ourselves with on this journey.
Eat at a Dog-Friendly Restaurant
I have a feeling we’ll hit up more than one dog-friendly restaurant on our five week trip, but I wanted to add it to the list since it’s important to me. Bonus if I find a restaurant with a dog menu!
Pick Apples at an Orchard
Growing up in Indiana, I have a plethora of memories from local apple orchards. The smell of fresh apples brings me supreme happiness.
I’ve never taken Wynston to an apple orchard since they don’t really exist in Arizona, so I plan to hit one up in Indiana while we’re there.
Visit Magnolia Plantation
Magnolia Plantation was recommended to us by my friend Brittany. Magnolia Plantation is located in Charleston, SC, and it’s known as one of “America’s Most Beautiful Gardens.”
Magnolia Plantation has been in existence since the 1600s! It is dog-friendly, and has a ton of tours and activities. I can’t wait to check out this magnificent place!
Cape Hatteras Lighthouse
The Cape Hatteras Lighthouse in North Carolina is the nation’s tallest lighthouse. It was ultimately moved to a location to be preserved. I want to get a photo of Wynston near it!
Shop at a Farmer’s Market
When I went to Idaho with my friends Juliet and Jessica, I tasted from fruit from a local farmer’s market. No joke – it was the best fruit I’ve ever tasted.
Along our journey, I want to stop at a farmer’s market to snag some fresh produce. You can’t beat fruits and veggies from a local farmer!
This is a short list of things Wynston and I will do on our cross country US trip, but I want to make sure I check them all off.
Do you have any ideas or suggestions for us?

Thank you for sharing your post about the Things I’d Like To Do On Our Trip Across the US. Your choices are excellent and great travels. I enjoyed reading about your trip. How about visiting the historic Boston area. There are plenty of interesting sites to see there.

I don’t have to much interest in visiting Boston, but we’ll definitely check out Mass. on our next East Coast trip!
