I don’t celebrate any holidays without my dogs. Quite frankly, if my dogs aren’t invited, count me out! My dogs are my kids, so why would I leave them home?! Anyways, I like to host a lot of holidays and get-togethers at my house because dogs are always welcome. Many people enjoy a 3-day weekend for Labor Day, so I’ve put together a list of how you can enjoy Labor Day with your dog!
Enjoy Labor Day with your dog!
Dog-friendly foods: Whether you’re enjoying a barbecue with friends or just relaxing by the pool, be sure to have some delicious doggy foods on hand. Some healthy fruits and veggies to share include apples, watermelon, blueberries, carrots, kale and pumpkin. You can also make delicious oatmeal peanut butter dog treats or this chicken salad that’s perfect for you AND your dogs. Is it hot where you are? Go swimming: We have a pool in our back yard so it’s fun to have our friends and their dogs over to swim. A popular Labor Day destination is the beach or a local lake, so bring along your pup to enjoy it as well! Just make sure that you are practicing water safety when you have your dogs with you.
Find local events: I’m sure that wherever you live there are at least a few Labor Day events going on. Simply hit up Google with “Labor Day 2016 events near me” and see what it comes up with! Try and find something safe and dog-friendly so your furry friends can enjoy the fun as well.
Go to a dog-friendly restaurant: In the greater Phoenix area there are a TON of dog-friendly restaurants. Labor Day is a great excuse to get out for a yummy meal and include your dog. Many places may also be offering Labor Day deals.
Go to PetSmart: We’re laying low for Labor Day this year, so a good option for us would be taking a trip to PetSmart! Halloween merchandise is up already so it’s the perfect time to shop for a costume or new toy!
Hike or walk some place special: September is still really hot in Arizona but if you get up early enough you can go for a nice hike. Maybe you have a forest or park near you that you can enjoy. Doing something different is a nice change of scenery for you and your dog.
