Matt and I met in early 2013. By July 2013 we started renting a house together. In January 2016 we got engaged and now our lease is up in July. It’s been an incredible three years in our current house but it’s time to buy a home of our own. With our wedding around the corner on 12/29/16, it’s time to settle down and make our roots. It is also important to have a place that we love to call home. It’s happened so quickly all of a sudden, but now we’re buying a home!
Our ultimate goal was to have land. We want to be outside. We want big trees, grass and serenity. So what’d we find? A beautiful home on 1/3 acre with huge trees, tons of grass, gorgeous plants, citrus trees and a pool!
Yesterday we put an offer in on the house. It was actually the first house that we looked at in person. As soon as we walked into it, we knew this was it. It checked every single box on our checklist. Our realtor made a good point. He said “I know it may seem weird to put an offer in on the first house you see but it has everything you two want and need, and I’d hate to see you miss out on such an amazing house while looking at others.” Matt and I slept on the decision and decided it felt right. We looked at several other listings online but nothing came close to this one.
Today around noon we got the news that the seller was ready to move forward! The next step is the inspection and appraisal. The sale is contingent upon the inspection. For all we know, the house could need $50,000 worth of work and we don’t know it yet. If the inspection goes well and/or all of the problems are fixed at a reasonable cost to us or the seller, our closing date is June 30th! The sooner, the better, that’s for sure.
The house is located in Chandler about 15 mins west of our current home. It’s closer to my mom and best friend which is really excellent. The location is pretty perfect!
Some of the things that this house has (and that we wanted) are 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a 3 car garage plus RV gate, pool, wood floors, a fireplace, plantation shutters and a formal dining room. It has a massive front patio with super cute green shutters. A “must-have” was a one story home. With a bad hip, possible hip surgery in the future and a disabled cat, we have to get rid of the stairs. The size is 2650 sq. ft. The neighborhood is well kept, quiet and perfect for us.
I took Wynston and Khloee to run around in the backyard yesterday, and I got their seal of approval. It’s crazy how small they look in such a big backyard. I really hope that everything works out and we ended up getting the house.
If something doesn’t work out with this house, we’ll continue to look at others and find something else. It’d be ideal to move into this house by the end of June because my brother comes home on leave in July. He’d be able to stay with us and go swimming!!!!
Say a prayer, send positive vibes or throw some good energy our way! We’re feeling extremely grateful to be in the position to not only buy a house, but to buy one so amazing. Oh, and by the way, I can’t wait for the yard maintenance (and that’s not sarcasm)! The goal is to spend a majority of my time outside, as I know the dogs will love being out there with me 🙂
I’ll be sharing more photos of the inside and outside as the process becomes finalized. Wish us luck as we move forward!
