As a full time dog mom, there are a handful of pet products that I cannot live without. I often get asked for pet product recommendations in several different categories, so I figured it’d be fun to compile a list for you! Here are my pet parent must-haves!
Amanda’s Dog Mom Must-Haves
I swear by a stroller for Wynston. I started using one in 2013 and it was the best decision ever. For four years I had a cheapy Amazon dog stroller, which definitely got it’s money’s worth of use. But that stroller was starting to lose it’s zest a few months ago, so it was time to upgrade! I determined that a more expensive, high quality stroller was going to be the best thing for us since we use it on such a frequent basis.
When do I use the stroller? Pretty much any time I take Wynston out for something other than a walk. Pet events, outings to restaurants, traveling, or anywhere I fear him getting stepped on. The stroller was also a life saver when Wynston broke his foot. Since getting our Gen7Pets jogger stroller, Wynston now sleeps in it every single day. I keep it in my home office, where Wynston stays right by my side…unless of course we need to use it outside the house!
I’m obsessed with this water bottle. Not only is it dishwasher safe and BPA free, but it’s perfect for dogs AND humans. It holds 24oz of liquid in a convenient design. The best part? The bottom easily detaches as a bowl for your dog! The bowl holds 8oz of water. Forget carrying multiple water bottles – now you have water for you and your pup in one place! This Kurgo Gourd water bottle is a must-have for any sort of outing or travel with my dogs. And for a low cost of $15, you can’t beat it!
Part of our morning routine for years has been a daily dental chew. My dog’s favorites? Pedigree Dentastix. I know the brand might dissuade you, but don’t let it. Dentastix are some of the best dental chews on the market and are recommended by veterinarians for daily dental care. I never go a day without giving each of my dogs a “dental.” They are without a doubt a must-have in our house!
I bought my first pet fountain in 2011. I’ll never forget it – I thought the idea of a pet fountain was insanely clever. At the time I didn’t have dogs, but my cats definitely deserved the best. I ordered a Drinkwell Platinum pet fountain and my kitties loved it! Purchasing that fountain was obviously life changing because I’ve never NOT had one since. To say that pet fountains are a must-have is an understatement! Currently we mainly use the Drinkwell 360.
Surprised to see Gen7Pets on the list again? Don’t be. I’m obsessed with their high quality travel products. The roller-carrier has lifted so much weight off my shoulders…quite literally. Lugging around a pet carrier for Wynston on my shoulder is a no-go. With a bad hip, I just don’t have the strength. The Gen7Pets Roller-Carrier is a must-have because it’s made my entire airplane travel experience with Wynston 10x easier and less stressful. The most important part? Wynston loves it. Now he will sleep on the airplane instead of being anxious. Buying this carrier has truly been priceless.
Nutro All Natural Crunchy Dog Treats
Nutro crunchy treats are a must-have in my house. These treats are healthy, they don’t smell bad and they are easy to break up for small dogs. My pups love all of the flavors and I never go without these treats in my house. Nutro crunchy treats are perfect for training, traveling or as a food topper!
