Presenting; a birthday letter to my 7 year old Wynston.
Happy 7th Birthday, Wynston!
My dearest boy,
Today you are 7, and I really can’t help but reflect on everything we’ve been through, especially in the last year. Can you believe that we created your Facebook page five years ago this month?! Look at how far we’ve come together.
Wynston, my son, I know this passed year has been a difficult one for us. But it’s also been full of adventure, exploration and bonding. Just when I think our bond can’t grow any stronger, it does. You continue to amaze me with how much wiser and incredible you become. I didn’t know it was possible, but everyday you prove it is.
Through everything you’ve been by my side to remind me that no matter what happens we have each other. To me it sometimes feels like we lost everything but the truth is we’ve found everything plus more. Together we’ve discovered a new way of living. You and I have created a new life of serenity, nature and traveling. I can’t imagine a better companion to have by my side.
I remember earlier this year when we were traveling to Texas and our connecting flight got cancelled. We were standing in the middle of the airport around 9pm. I was hysterical because I didn’t know what we’d do. I remember crying and feeling so hopeless. Then I looked down at you in the carrier. You were staring up at me, relaxed and happy as a clam. At that moment I became so mindful – mindful of the fact that I had you and you had me. It was in that instance when I realized that you were happy as long as you were with me. And I calmed down. You were healthy and safe, and that’s what mattered more than anything. That situation solidified the fact that as long as we have each other, we can get through even the most troubling times.
I feel like you and I can conquer anything. Major life changes, moving, traveling to new places, exploring new depths of the Earth. You make life feel so flawless. You make life worth living through even the darkest of moments.
You continue to save my life, my son, and I can’t thank you enough. I look forward to what the next 10+ years have to offer us.
I love you more than words, actions or a letter could ever show.
xoxo
