I admit it. I’m horrible about brushing my dog’s teeth. I give them dental chews daily (and they have really healthy teeth!) but I know I need to get into a better routine of cleaning their teeth. The new Emmi-pet Ultrasound Toothbrush will get me started on that new routine!
How does the Emmi-pet Ultrasound Toothbrush work?
I had never heard of ultrasound technology in a toothbrush before Emmi-dent. The company actually makes a toothbrush for humans, but now they are offering one for pets – which I think is absolutely fantastic. Here’s how it works:
Emmi-pet generates ultrasound with a patented ultrasonic microchip that is embedded inside the brush head. This chip creates up to 84 million ultrasonic (air oscillations) impulses per minute and transmits them via the bristles and the special animal bio-compatible Nano-bubble toothpaste onto the teeth giving your pet a superior cleaning. The ultrasonic impulses are able to penetrate teeth and gums destroying bacteria and germs where bristles can’t reach. This is essential in reducing and protecting against periodontal (gum) disease.
What I liked about the Emmi-pet Ultrasound Toothbrush:
- The set up was super simple. Just plug the charging station into a wall outlet and put the toothbrush on it!
- It is lightweight, which makes it easier to brush teeth.
- There is no sound or vibration. When I turned it on (the light turns green) it didn’t do anything. It was awesome! This feature is amazing because extra sound or motion would startle a lot of dogs.
- There are two toothbrush heads, so you can use whichever one is best for your dog. I used the smallest one since my dogs are small.
- The toothpaste didn’t have a bad odor to it, and both my dogs licked it while I was introducing the toothbrush to them.
What I didn’t like about Emmi-pet Ultrasound Toothbrush:
- Honestly, there wasn’t much I didn’t like about the Emmi-pet Ultrasound Toothbrush. Even though the small toothbrush head was pretty tiny, it was still a little big for Wynston’s mouth.
It took both Matt and I to wrangle the dogs so we could attempt to brush their teeth. We did introduce the brush to them first by letting them sniff it…and lick it. Wynston was difficult because the toothbrush head was just a little too big. But again, his mouth is super tiny. This is why I couldn’t get any photos of us actually brushing their teeth – it was a 2 person job! (Make sure you don’t use your own human toothpaste when brushing your dog’s teeth!)
Emmi-dent offers a toothbrush for humans as well. The ultrasound technology is really fancy! I definitely suggest checking it out and reading how it works if you aren’t familiar.
Give your dog the gift of clean, healthy teeth with the Emmi-pet Ultrasound Toothbrush!

Hmmmm, I love the idea of this. Even with brushing, Koly’s mouth needs a little love, so we would LOVE to try this. Do you have to use the paste that comes with it – or can you use your own?
Amanda says
I’m sure you can use your own, although it recommends the “special animal bio-compatible Nano-bubble toothpaste” that comes with it!
Karen Chargo says
Good Day Jodi!
I first would like to thank Amanda for the awesome review! High Paw!
I’m Karen from Emmi-dent (Emmi-pet) We recommend the toothpaste for the Emmi-pet. However, being our kids (dogs) are not always wanting to change. Something is better then nothing. I have a client who swears by Maxi-Guard Oral gel She uses it once a week and she tells me it seems to accelerate the removal of any plaque buildup. Also, there is a 30 day money back warranty. So, if you do not like it you can send it back (minus shipping) and I will personally refund your money! If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to email me. Karen@Emmi-tech.com
Cheryl says
The toothpaste that comes with it is a special formula that works with the ultrasound and causes tiny nanobubbles to get between the teeth and under the gum line!
Best to use it and not human paste.

I used to use the Sonicare toothbrush on my greyhound (he’s since passed.) Same concept. We all had different heads, so I didn’t use the dog’s head in my own mouth. 🙂 I’d love to have my own “pet specific” brush, and not share.
As a side note – NEVER EVER use human toothpaste for your pets. Fluoride is poisonous to them. Only buy animal specific toothpaste. I LOVE CET brand – vanilla mint flavor toothpaste. I’m a vet tech and that’s my fave flavor to recommend. There are other flavors like chicken or beef, but why would you want your pet’s breath to smell like food? The vanilla mint they all enjoy and it smells fresh!

I’m also terrible at a regular brushing routine for my babies…this seems like it would make it a lil easier…but I could totally see it taking 2 people to wrestle the dogs lol. 🙂
Cheryl says
I use it regularly in my grooming salon. It surprised me at how easy it was to use and almost every dog is super relaxed when I do their teeth!

Looks like a great idea thanks for the info on this product.

I’m amazed that it doesn’t have any sound or vibration. How cool! That would definitely scare Luna, but it might work for us! I want to start brushing Luna’s teeth more often since we don’t do it very regularly now.
Amanda says
I was amazed too! Actually, I was confused for a minute LOL! I had to read the instructions again to make sure I was doing it right…but if the green light is on, you’re good to go!
Karen Chargo says
Thank you again Amanda for the Awesome review! High Paw! from our little family to yours!

Thank you Karen!!!

This looks really cool! I have been noticing that my girls’ teeth have been getting bad so I am trying my best to clean them somewhat regularly. This would be wonderful to use!

Oh how cool! Shiner has an Emmi-pet toothbrush too 🙂 She has never liked the vibrating toothbrushes so I think these are a really nice alternative to that. I’ll also admit that I had considered using her fancy toothbrush for myself before LOL. Good luck to all who enter the giveaway!

Well, gosh, I don’t know what my boys would do? A finger brush and dental chews is all I’ve ever used. How cool that it’s silent and doesn’t vibrate, though? Would be great for my parents’ dog!

What a great give away event! Olivia who is a canine epilepsy ambassador is very good dog who brushes her teeth every night. I personally use an electric toothbrush & thought how wonderful it would be for Olivia to have one.
Good luck to everyone.

This is awesome! We go the dental chew route, too, so I wonder how N.A.S.H.A. would take to this. It’s great that there is no sound or vibration. Thanks for the info and opportunity!
Valerie Underwood says
Would love to win one of these for the shelter kitties!
Dolly the Doxie says
Mom won’t brush our teeth either but it did look like a great product! Also, she’s glad that she isn’t the only one that doesn’t get a picture using the product. Love Dolly

I just adopted a senior dog (Mike!) and though I have given him tooth tartar control treats (and parsley – which is magic) I still need to get in there and clean those teeth.

I have Italian Greyhounds and they are known for bad teeth! Dental care is so important in our house and this would be fabulous to win!

This looks awesome! What a great review, I’m really bad when it comes to Dexters dental care. He’s got great teath and I’m good about giving him denta sticks as well, but I know that I really need to start brushing his teeth looks like this would be a great product to use
Rebecca Wood says
I would love to try one of these on my pup! We are trying to get into a tooth brushing routine because papillons are known for losing teeth due to gum disease while they are young. The vet told that I’m looking at a yearly dental cleaning if I don’t brush her teeth every day. I like that this brush has ultrasound technology to really get her teeth clean!
Rascal and Rocco says
The vet just told us Max needs better dental care so this would be just perfect! Hoping to win!
Sambor says
I have got this brush week ago. I have used 3 times already and I don’t see any different. I’m not sure is it working . I’m following instruction but not results.
Amanda says
If you just got it a week ago and used it three times, you probably won’t see results. Took us about a month of every-other-day use to see a noticeable change. And really, we should be brushing our dog’s teeth everyday.
Frank Dreier says
What does this ultrasonic toothbrush actually do different or better vs. ordinary toothpastes? A lot of comments are about how this brush, but nobody is writing what is does?
Amanda says
The technology is more powerful and efficient. It also makes no noise, making it better for your dog.
Kelly huckerby says
I have started a dog grooming business from home and really want to implement this tooth brush to my customers but did not know how to go about different heads for different customers, any help will be much appreciated. Many thanks kelly
Amanda says
Hi Kelly! Congrats on your new business. Unfortunately I do not know how to go about getting different heads, so I would suggest reaching out to the company. Best of luck!
