Dental chews are a part of my daily dog mom routine. Wynston, Khloee and McKenzie Rae all have nice teeth and I credit it to keeping them on a strict dental regiment. I admit I’m not the best at cleaning my dog’s teeth, but I do hand out “dentals” every single morning. Wynston is seven years old and he still doesn’t have periodontal disease. A whopping 80% of dogs and cats have the onset of periodontal disease by the time they are three years old. Wynston did have to have a few teeth removed due to a baby tooth that still existed and caused two teeth to grow in abnormally, but it wasn’t initiated by poor dental health. My secret is daily dental chew. Here are what I consider to be the best dental chews for small dogs.
Wynston’s Dental Surgery Recap
“Wynston is awake from anesthesia, and recovering. Surgery went well.” The words every pet parent wants to hear. I got the call around 11am from Dr. Knott, one of the amazing veterinarians at Oasis Animal Hospital. I had dropped Wynston off at 7:30am for dental surgery, and I couldn’t wait to have him back in my arms. “You can pick him up at 1 o’clock.” I pulled into the parking lot at 12:57.

Celebrating #PetDentalHealthMonth with Greenies!
Pet dental health is too commonly ignored by many pet parents. Most don’t understand how important it is to keep our pet’s teeth clean until their dog or cat ends up at the vet with periodontal disease. Then the big shock – thousands of dollars worth of vet bills come piling in. It’s safe to say that it’s fairly easy to prevent such circumstances by keeping up on your pet’s dental health. The best way I’ve found to do this? Daily dental chews. I admit that I need to get better at brushing my dog’s teeth but I give my dogs a daily dental treat to assist in preventative care. This February, we’re celebrating #PetDentalHealthMonth with Greenies!
