What dog mom doesn’t need a super cute shirt to fit her lifestyle? Here’s an easy one that you can customize and personalize to your liking!
DIY Dog Mom Shirt
I bought all of my materials at Hobby Lobby, including the t-shirt. They are a dog friendly store, so it’s the perfect place to shop!
What you’ll need:
– blue t-shirt: I went with a size small, as the generic shirts seem to run a little big. Can’t beat the cost of $3.99 and 30% off!
– white iron on letters: $3.99
– fabric paint: I already had fabric paint from previous projects but you can purchase one for only $1.49.
Total cost: $8.28
Start by laying out the shirt on a flat surface – I like to use my kitchen counter. I ran a quick hot iron over the shirt just to smooth it in preparation for the letters. I laid out each letter how I wanted it, and measured to make sure I had everything centered. For me, it doesn’t need to be completely perfect. I just want to make sure the letters look lined up and straight.
After carefully deciding on letter placement, I ironed each letter onto the shirt. After ironing each one individually, I continued to iron over the entire line of letters. I even flipped the shirt inside out and ironed from the inside, just to make sure the letters are nice and secure!
Once the letters are nicely ironed and cooled down, you can line the letters with whatever color fabric paint you want! I chose black in this case, to make the white pop out a bit against the blue. You don’t have to use fabric paint at all, I just think it gives it a nice touch.
Let the fabric paint dry, and you have a super fun “dog mom” shirt! What’s nice about this simple, inexpensive project, is you can use whatever colors, letters and wording you want! It’s 100% customizable, and everyone will want to know where you got your fun shirt!
