As a dog mom, I believe that it’s necessary to spend quality time with each of my dogs. It’s a good bonding experience, and you get to know your dogs as individuals. When my three dogs are together on an outing, their listening skills decline and they act like monkeys in a circus. Take them all separately, and they are perfect angels. While we’re working on the whole “going out as a group” thing, I spend one-on-one time with each of my dogs. Today I took Wynston over to the Riparian Preserve for a relaxing nature walk. Perhaps I will start a new blog series – Mommy and me Monday!
Wynston walks slow, sniffs a lot and pees on everything. Today I just went at his pace and let him lead the way. Some may argue that I shouldn’t let my dog be in control, but whatever. Sniffing is very mentally stimulating for dogs and I wanted Wyn to have a great time!
Along our journey, we spotted several animals. Luckily Wynston isn’t one to chase them. We saw bunnies, desert mice, ducks, many birds and lots of other dogs out walking. Wynston is so composed and perfect when meeting other dogs, and it was fun to be able to do so without Khloee going nuts.

Wynston and I had a wonderful morning. Wyn is so low maintenance and easy. I got to take lots of photos because he’ll just sit nicely despite distractions.
Do you spend one-on-one time with your dogs? How often? What types of activities do you like to do?

I love taking Laika for leisurely strolls while letting her sniff & explore. She gets so much more out of it that way. Walking is about more than just physical exercise, it’s often the only chance our dogs get each day to see what’s going on outside.
So yeah I get frustrated by people who think we’re supposed to be “in control” on walks & not let them sniff around. Checking out the scenery is what makes walks so enjoyable.

I completely agree. Too many people don’t allow their dogs to sniff, which is ridiculous. They must not know how powerful a dog’s nose is. The stimulation is incredible.

I love this, what a great day and photos! Before I even read today’s post I loved the picture & the tag Mommy and Me Monday…. Blog hop?!? 🙂
Amanda says
Thanks Denise! Yeah a blog hop is a great idea too! I’ve never hosted one so I need to figure out how to do that LOL!

It’s all part of what a dog likes to do, I go at her pace if she stops for a sniff fine I’ll wait for her. She sometimes just like to look around no problem there’s no rush, just recently we have looked for dog friendly pubs and we have had a meal she just enjoys watching people come and go plus she gets a lot of attention.
Amanda says
That sounds just like us! It’s so important to let dogs really enjoy their surroundings. It’s a great experience to have them out in public doing so as well!

Hi Amanda, an update on Lola, I think everything has just clicked in with her, over the past week things were really good with her, getting better daily yesterday was one of the best day’s she’s had, but today has been amazing, my friend popped in the and she was all excited, no coughing and now she’s been barking at something in the garden for quite a while and guess what, no coughing.
Amanda says
Wow!!!!!!! This is such phenomenal news! I am so beyond excited about her progress, Derrick. I am thrilled for you and Lola. I know how much relief you must be feeling. Thanks for continuing to keep me updated. I love, love, love hearing about Lola and how far she’s already come.

Oh my gosh, I love this series! Winston is such a handsome little guy! How could you not spend time with him? I have two pit mixes and try to spend as much time as possible with them. They are my sanity! Being I adopted my 2nd, 5 years after the 1st, my boy still gets a bit jealous if too much attention is shown towards his “sister”. Equal play and cuddle time with both does wonders!
Thanks so much for sharing your Mommy and Me Monday with us! I’m subscribing to your blog. 🙂

One on one time with each dog is always precious. I have to admit, as a mum of 3 daughters and a few pets… it’s difficult to have one on one time but I absolutely love it whenever I can 🙂
