On March 23rd, I emailed my state legislators asking them to vote NO on a bill that would lessen the protection for farm animals against animal cruelty. These animals include, pigs, chickens, horses, cows and other farm animals. Well as of March 30th, the Governor of Arizona, Doug Ducey, veto’d the bill!
Not only did Ducey veto the bill, but he also cited that we need to increase legal protection for animals! HB 2150 is the first bill that Ducey has veto’d since in office.
“No animal should be the victim of abuse. Moreover, perpetrators must be held to account and properly penalized to the fullest extent of the law.”
YES! This is another step in the right direction for animal rights. There was a massive outpouring from Arizona residents who called, emailed and visited the Governor’s office in hopes of squashing the bill quickly.
This huge success just shows what can happen if people ban together to do the right thing! Keep it up Arizona! Last year, Arizona passed a law to ban the sale of puppy mill dogs, now this! Arizona ROCKS!
