The Dog-Friendly Staybridge Suites in Irving, TX!

This post is sponsored by IHG, but Dog Mom Days only supports companies that are in line with our blog’s mission and vision.

I have a newfound love for IHG Hotels. The dog-friendliness and superior customer service of the hotel chain have shamelessly turned me into one of those “I will only stay at these hotels” people. Throw in a full kitchenette and you have completely won me over. My last stay at an IHG hotel was when Wynston and I visited El Paso, TX in early September. I fell in love with Candlewood Suites and everything they had to offer. It was after that trip that I decided I wanted to continue exploring the country by way of IHG, which brought Wynston and I to Irving, TX to check out Staybridge Suites.

Upon arriving at the Staybridge Suites in Irving (more specifically labeled as Staybridge Suites DFW Airport North), I made my way to the front desk with Wynston to check us in. The staff was gracious enough to allow us early check in, and I remember how super friendly the receptionist was. She tried her best to accommodate Wynston and I, seeing as he has a broken tootsie. Although we couldn’t get a ground floor room, we snagged a second floor suite near the staircase. Lesson learned: call ahead to let them know you have a dog with special needs! They are more than happy to attempt to meet specific preferences.

My initial thought about this particular hotel was, “Wow, this is luxurious!” It didn’t seem like your typical nightly hotel. This Staybridge was more on the upscale side, with colorful flooring, high ceilings and fancy doors. It’s nice that you don’t have to spend gobs of money to stay somewhere beautiful!

Our room reminded me of a place I once stayed at in Manhattan. The decor was fancy and modern, with homey touches. I felt like I was on vacation, but I still felt comfortable enough to let Wynston run around the room without fear of him destroying accidentally something.

The full kitchen, complete with a dishwasher, fridge, microwave and stove looked like something from a magazine. The tall cabinets and granite counter tops were not only attractive, but also high quality. The bathroom was the same way, and I honestly felt like I could live there! The room donned a queen size bed, closet, couch with a hide-a-bed, TV, desk and entry table. The suite could have easily accommodated more than one person (or dog!) comfortably.

The hotel grounds had plenty of grass and areas for Wynston to go potty. My only recommendation would be to add a doggy waste bin to both sides of the hotel. There was only one waste bag receptacle, and it was clear on the other side of the hotel from our room. I typically wouldn’t have a problem walking over there with Wynston, but I tried to avoid extensive walking considering his foot was broken during the trip.

I really loved the location of the hotel. There was a ton of shopping and food in the area. The nearest grocery store was within five minutes, and the Staybridge offered a shuttle to and from Dallas Fort Worth Airport. There is a Fry’s Electronics right behind the hotel, so Wynston and I dipped in there to take a look around. Major retailers like Home Depot, Best Buy and Dick’s Sporting Goods are also within walking distance. I also enjoyed being right next to a beautiful suburban neighborhood. It made the overall experience a comfortable one. I almost felt like I had friendly neighbors 🙂

Monday through Friday there is a delicious breakfast served in the lobby of the Staybridge Suites. They switch up the food a little bit each day so you’re not constantly eating the same thing. Wynston and I took full advantage of the buffet every morning. On top of getting a fair share of attention, Wynston also got his fair share of bacon and eggs every morning.

The Staybridge Suites in Irving, TX has amenities such as a laundry room, business center, pool and hot tub, basketball court and fitness center. The standard internet is complimentary for guests, as are the breakfast and airport shuttle.

The stay at this particular hotel only verified my new loyalty to IHG. I would absolutely stay at this location again, and I look forward to discovering more amazing IHG hotels!
