I love celebrating holidays with my dogs. I get Khloee and Wynston in on all of the action, including wrapping Christmas and birthday presents for them! Easter is no different! Find out how to put together a super cute Easter basket for your dog!
What to include in a Doggy Easter Basket:
- Easter eggs filled with treats: I chose cheese flavored Best Buddy Bits to fill the Easter eggs for my dogs this year. I will put some treat filled eggs in their baskets, as well as hide some around the house! Khloee and Wynston are pros at opening the eggs and taking the treats out!
- Dog toys: I got all of the dog toys for Khloee and Wynston’s baskets at PetSmart this year – as usual! They include a Pound Puppy, crinkle hedgehog and two Peeps toys!
- Dental chews: This year my kids will get Dentastix and Whimzees. You can also put dental sticks in large Easter eggs!
- Treats: You can fill Easter eggs with any treats you want, or include bags of treats in your dog’s Easter basket.
Keep Easter safe for dogs:
- Don’t give your dogs chocolate! The caffeine content in chocolate can be deadly to dogs.
- Avoid plastic Easter grass. It can block their intestinal track and cause fatal issues. Opt for paper grass, or no grass at all.
- Watch what your dogs are chewing on. If you fill plastic eggs with treats, make sure your dogs aren’t attempting to chew on or eat the eggs.
Will you be putting an Easter basket together for your dogs this year?

You always have the cutest ideas!
Amanda says
Thank you Lara. I’m not SUPER creative, but I do have a bit of an artsy side to me. It only comes out when I am super passionate about something…like dogs!

Unfortunately we will not be doing easter baskets this year… with six little ones, and the fact that they don’t like opening presents, it just wont be happening. lol And anyway they have sooo many boxes of treats I’m about ready to take most of it down to the rescue!

I’ve never done an Easter basket for my dog; I think this might be the year that’ll change thanks to your cute ideas.
Amanda says
Last year was the first year I did it and it was a success!

So cute!! I’ll have to share this on Thor’s page! I’ve been slacking on even getting holiday pictures of the dogs dressed up much less putting together something great like this!

Cute ideas for the Easter basket, and it’s always good to reinforce the ZERO CHOCOLATE rule for dogs and cats – I’m always surprised by how many pet owners don’t realise how toxic it is for our pets.

SO cute! I’m definitely doing this for my JJ – thanks for the great ideas! 🙂

Love this! We are going to make the boys some baskets this week! So fun to do this stuff with the “kids”.

In case you were wondering why chocolate was bad, it’s the theobromine in the cocoa powder that is toxic. So the greater the amount of cocoa powder the larger the dose of theobromine…
We had a scare regarding pure cocoa powder last summer, it was not fun, but thankfully all four of our pups are healthy!
Amanda says
The caffeine can also deadly, hence why dark chocolate is the most deadly – highest caffeine content.
