It’s taken me an entire week to get my act together after attending SuperZoo 2018. It was three days of fun, networking and pets! I thought for sure that I’d be overwhelmed by the experience, but quite the opposite was true. At SuperZoo I was in my element – pet blogger heaven, you could call it. I couldn’t possibly cover ALL of the brands I visited and connected with in one blog post, but I’d love to share some noticeable trends, new brands that I discovered, as well as familiar brands that I was excited to meet in person. You won’t want to miss some of these SUPER cool companies and products!
SuperZoo 2018
I already wrote a post about our stay at Mandalay Bay (the event host hotel), so be sure to read it! The resort stay was just as fun as the event itself. So now let’s dive in:
Noticeable Trends
I noticed several trends as I trudged up and down the vendor aisles at SuperZoo. A few obvious ones were:
Delivery Pet Food: “Home cooked” delivery pet food has become extremely popular in the last couple of years. It’s becoming more mainstream and affordable. Instead of just one or two services, there are now several.
Everything CBD: From treats to oils to chews, CBD and hemp have spread through the pet industry like a wild fire. I couldn’t count how many brands are now offering some sort of CBD option for pets, not to mention all of the brands that strictly focus on the CBD market. This natural remedy for anxiety and physical health ailments is increasingly popular with pet parents.
Traveling & Outdoor Items: As more places become dog-friendly, pet parents are finding themselves traveling with their dogs more frequently. This phenomenon brings a need for travel and outdoor items for camping and hiking. Millennials are more interested in experiences than owning homes and living a “mainstream” lifestyle, which means we’re getting out into the world more. Of course we need to bring our dogs, so they need sleeping bags, travel water bottles and sources of shade also! I’m a huge fan of this trend, as you’ll notice by the lists below.
New Brands I Discovered
The following are companies that I recommend looking into. They offer incredible, unique products, all of which I want to try!
Puppy Cake: Cake mixes for dogs, as well as doggy ice cream.
Shady Paws: Travel pet shade for the yard, beach, restaurants or anything outdoors.
Jiminy’s: Cricket protein treats.
Furtile Ground: Home decor and clothing for dog moms
Poochpad: Eco-friendly indoor/patio potty system for dogs.
Pawscout: An inexpensive GPS collar for dogs and cats (no monthly fee, and only $19.95!).
Treatibles: CBD dog treats
Diatomaceous Earth: A natural food topper/supplement for dogs which controls fleas and ticks, and benefits coat, appetite, metabolism, and digestion.
DOOG: Amazing outdoor and travel products, such as a collapsible pool, walking bag and cooling shade.
Benebone: Limited ingredient chews made in the USA.
Blue Dog Bakery: Dog treats made in the USA that Wynston approves of.
OlviPet: Olive oil based dog treats.
Familiar Brands
4Knines: The very best car seat covers around! (And one of my SuperZoo sponsors!!)
Gold Paw Series: Practical, high quality clothing for dogs.
Hurtta: Traveling and camping gear for dogs.
Alcott: Outdoor gear for dogs.
Purina: Food and products for cats and dogs.
Tall Tails: Expertly designed products for outdoors and indoors.
GingerLead: Product for dogs and cats who need assistance walking after a surgery, injury, etc.
Einstein Pets: Delicious dog treats.
Gen7Pets: My favorite dog strollers and car carriers.
Nudges: Dog treats that Wynston can’t get enough of.
Kinn Kleanbowl: Biodegradable, germ-resistant pet bowl.
There are SO many incredible pet companies that we visited at SuperZoo. A total of 1200 exhibitors attended the event. While we didn’t have the time to visit them all, we did stop at any booth that looked inviting and relevant to my blog and dog mom life. Other notable brands we stopped to see were Wellness, Whimzees, A Pet With Paws, Pet House Candles, Redbarn, Planet Dog, goDog, and more!
Other Fun Vegas Activities
We didn’t have time to do much in Vegas other than attend the event and sleep! My mom came with us to Las Vegas, which added an extra element of fun to our trip. On Tuesday night we attended a VIP marketing event, then took a stroll around the Luxor and Excalibur casinos. Wynston got to see a giant model of the Titanic at the Luxor which was super awesome, especially because I’m obsessed with the history of the Titanic. He also got to see the pyramids of Egypt…kind of 😉
SuperZoo 2018 was everything I thought it would be and more. I seriously can’t wait to attend again next year. This year’s show ushered record attendance, and it’s obvious why. SuperZoo had a plethora of special exhibit areas including pet tech, made in the USA, and grooming. There were also workshops and seminars available, but I stuck to enjoying the show floor. The best part about the entire experience was seeing my friends and being in my element with Wynston. I’m grateful that I made so many new connections, and I look forward to working with some of the brands that I mentioned above!
A huge thanks to our sponsors 4-Legger and 4Knines. Without them, we wouldn’t have made it to SuperZoo!
