It’s 5am. The skies are still filled with darkness and the cold is wavering across the pavement. The dogs in the animal shelter begin to rustle, as they hear the sound of jingling keys at the door. The dogs have lived another day to experience a chance at a loving home, or so they think. But then it hits, the euthanasia crew comes in to “do the duty.” A number of dogs get released from their cages one by one. They think they are getting a walk! Love, affection, breakfast…but no. That poor dog never had a chance. They are walking to their death. In an hour they will be laying lifeless in a black plastic bag…
Happy First Gotcha Day, Leila!
Meesi. Bud. Buddy Pal. Meesa. Meesins. Siamese; these are all nicknames I’ve come up with in the last year of having Leila in my life. I think “Bud” is probably the most used, simply because my baby Siamese has transformed into my serious buddy. She’s my pal. I can’t believe it’s been a year since this girl blessed me with her presence. Over the span of this past year, I’ve come to believe that perhaps Leila was put in my life by way of my heart cat, Edison.
Why I Turned Down an Offer to Adopt a New Puppy
Puppies. We all love puppies. Puppies are adorable, fun, playful and cuddly. WE ALL LOVE PUPPIES. Recently an acquaintance’s dogs had an accidental litter. They live out in the “country” on a large ranch with lots of animals. Don’t get me started on the spay/neuter deal, because you all know how I feel about it. But they did have a litter of puppies nonetheless. So, of course, we were offered a free puppy. However, after lots of thought, I turned down the offer to adopt a new puppy…
Happy Gotcha Day, Khloee!
I can’t believe it’s been a year since I brought Khloee home. I will never forget the text message I got with her photo. She had been left at the boarding facility that I’m the marketing director for, and it was kind of an emergency situation. The owner and manager of the facility didn’t know what to do with Khloee so of course they texted me. When I saw her photo, my heart melted. I knew that if she wasn’t going to be mine, one of my family members or friends had to take her!
