I’m aware that there are tons of articles floating around in cyberspace about tips for traveling with pets. I even wrote a blog post about vacationing with dogs, but what about adding an injury to the mix? Sometimes you may have to travel with an injured animal (perhaps you’re moving) or maybe you want to take a fun trip! As long as it’s safe and healthy for your canine companion to travel (be sure to get the all-clear from your vet), here are some tips for traveling with an injured dog.
Calm Your Pets Naturally With Zen Pets Hemp Oil + Giveaway!
Although Khloee has been in our lives since she was just three months old, separation anxiety has always been an issue for her. I partially blame myself because I’ve worked from home since I rescued her, so I never really had a reason to be away from Khloee for long periods of time. I can look back on “should haves” all I want, but the fact of the matter is my pretty Poodle struggles being away from me. I’ve tried all of the basic training and well-known tricks for aiding in cases of separation anxiety, and sadly nothing has worked for Khloee.
Hemp oil is becoming a widespread and credible resource for many different physical and mental ailments, so I was extremely excited to try Zen Pets with Khloee. Turns out, Wynston broke his foot so I’ve been able to test it out with our many vet visits. I’m not a huge fan of drugging up my pets (unless it’s absolutely necessary, of course) so a natural alternative was an attractive concept. Zen Pets is a quality hemp oil specifically made for our pets’ well-being to promote health and wellness.
Wynston’s Broken Foot Update: Week 3
I can’t believe it’s already been about three weeks since Wynston broke his foot. We’re already on cast number four – only about four or five more to go. Our veterinarian believes that Wynston’s foot should be healing properly, but we did run into an issue when Wyn’s leg became irritated from his cast this week.
Wynston’s Broken Foot Update: Week Two
It’s been two weeks since Wynston broke his foot in El Paso, TX. Since then, we got back into town, had his foot casted and have adjusted to life with three fully-capable Chihuahua legs. The experience hasn’t been nearly as treacherous as I would have guessed, but it’s still proven to be quite the life experience.
Today Wynston had a new cast put on, as he needs to get it reapplied every week for the next five weeks or so. As he’s rocking the new hot pink look, here’s an update on how’s he’s doing!
Wynston Broke His Foot
You know when you’re about to go on an adventure with dog and worst case scenarios pop into your head? Like, all those “what ifs” and horror stories that you hear from other pet parents. But, I mean, what are the odds that those things would happen to you while you’re on vacation? Well, get freaking prepared for it.
The other day I created a list of things I needed to travel six hours with Wynston. On that list were names of several nearby emergency vets and vaccination records. I honestly never thought I’d need them, but I gotta be prepared and practice what I preach, right? And let me tell you, it’s a good freaking thing I was prepared because…
