For a long time now I’ve been wanting to travel with Wynston. You know, just hit the road and see where it takes us. I want to explore the country, write about it and enjoy every second with my son. Well folks, it’s happening. Instead of continuing to put it off, I decided to just do it! My life has been about doing what I love and taking risks, so this time is no different. On August 31st I head out with Wynston for our first road trip – just the two of us! We’re going to see some of the Southwest. Destinations: New Mexico and Texas.

Back to School For Dogs + Giveaway!
Around the US, school aged kids are getting back to the learning grind. In Arizona, year round schools are already back in session (yay for quieter shopping during the day!). For a lot of households, dogs and cats are having to get used to the kids being out of the house all day once more, which can sometimes be a difficult transition. So why not make it a fun, learning experience for our dogs? I personally don’t have children, but I’m using this time to get back to the basics. It’s back to school for dogs; let’s touch on training and tasks you can do with your dogs to signify a new school year. Pups need school supplies too, so enter to win three super fun school themed toys!
Happy Mutt Day!
July 31st is a day to celebrate mutts everywhere! Granted, we always celebrate mutts around here, but I figured I’d highlight McKenzie Rae and Khloee since they are both mixed breed dogs. And at the end, I want to hear about your mutts because let’s be honest – I love big mutts and I cannot lie!
Confession: I’m Not a Dog Person
The common story I hear among animal lovers is something along the lines of, ” Yeah, I grew up with eight Huskies, two chickens, five goats and fifteen cats.” *blinks my eyes a few times* Okay, well, perhaps that’s an exaggeration. But my point is, I feel so different because my past is not one filled with animals. Imaginary dogs and Beanie Babies were the only canines I grew up with. Yet here I am, making a living by writing about dogs.
I grew up with a cat. That’s right – ONE cat. I spent my childhood in the suburbs of Indianapolis, where pretty much no one in my tight knit neighborhood had dogs…at least not that I can remember. I had been chased by dogs a few times and I remember my cousin getting bitten by the neighbor dog, and it was because of this that I grew up terrified of dogs. By the time I was a teenager, however, I realized I was missing out because I didn’t have a canine companion. Now as I approach 30 years old, I’m a pet blogger and I write about dogs a majority of the time. But I have a confession: I’m not a dog person.
Shareable New Puppy Checklist
Recently my mom and stepdad adopted an adorable puppy, so I was inspired to create a new puppy checklist! This list can actually be used for the adoption of any dog, whether they are a baby or senior. Feel free to print the list, share it on social media or simply download it for personal use!
