Wynston was diagnosed with intrathoracic tracheal collapse in summer 2014. It had gotten progressively worse as he had gotten older to the point that he was coughing several times everyday. Some of Wyn’s coughing episodes were terrifying and turns out, it was up to me to help him. I didn’t want to put my boy through western medicinal treatments such as steroids and inhalers. What was I to do?! Wynston was suffering and I had to stop it. So I did – naturally!
How to Help a Fearful Dog
I scour the euthanasia list from our local county animal shelter every night. Since both locations of Maricopa County Animal Care & Control are kill-shelters, about 40% of the animals who come in each year are put to death. It’s horrifying and sad, but the East Valley shelter alone takes in almost 150 animals a day. Each. Day. The Maricopa County facilities need a lot of help. Many people turn the other way because they are “kill shelters.” Well in reality, they wouldn’t have to euthanize so many animals if there was more funding, help, and foster/rescue homes. Oh yeah – and less idiots surrendering their dogs.
I’ve been involved with MCACC for about nine years and I just recently rescued a dog off of the euthanasia list. I came across her photo online on 11/22/15. Save on the Wisdom Panel 3.0 Canine DNA Test!
In the past few years, dog DNA testing has become very popular. It is common for people to adopt mixed breed dogs without knowing exactly which breeds comprise their new furry family member. Doggy DNA tests give people the ability to simply send in a sample of their dog’s DNA and have it tested by a lab. How cool is that?! A great canine DNA test kit on the market is the Mars Veterinary Wisdom Panel® 3.0. It is currently the most comprehensive at-home DNA test on the market, and you can get one at a discount this year at the Holiday Pet Festival!
