This year has been full of “firsts” for us, so why stop now? You all know that I’m obsessed with pet events, and my goal this fall has been to check out new ones that I’ve never been to before. Wynston and I were blessed to get the invitation to attend Strut Your Mutt Phoenix, a national pet event hosted by Best Friends Animal Society. Wynston would be making a celebrity appearance and taking photos with attendees at the Instapet Tent, along with Instagram stars Stogie and Princess Lily Grumps. Count us in!!! That same evening was Dogtoberfest, a small local event a few miles from our house, and I wanted to be sure to check that out as well. Here’s a recap (with lots of photos of course) of the events!
Welcoming Fall with Barktoberfest 2017
Fall in Arizona means it’s pet event season! Unlike a majority of the country, October kicks off weekly pet events around the Grand Canyon State because the weather is finally cooling down. Barktoberfest, which benefits Friends for Life Animal Rescue in Gilbert, is the perfect way to begin the next few months of pet event fun. The 18th annual Barktoberfest was once again a success, and this year I was able to share the joy with my mom and her dog Cooper! Although it was a bit toasty, Wynston and I had a blast.
We Booked Our Wedding Venue!
It’s actually happening. I’m going to be a wife! The future Mrs. Genovese, to be exact! (And I seriously can’t wait to change my last name). The time between the proposal and booking of a venue has been very short, but we’re less than a year out from the wedding. Matt and I didn’t have much of a choice because we wanted to get married whenever my baby brother would be home on leave from the Army. Originally we chose 12/30/16 but the venue we wanted was booked that day, so we went with the 29th instead. So……we did it! We put down the deposit, signed a contract and we are rockin’ & rollin’. Matt and I will become Mr. & Mrs. Genovese on 12/29/16 at Villa Siena!
Dog Friendly Tourist Attractions in Arizona
Traveling to Arizona?! Well you’re in luck because this very diverse state is extremely dog friendly. Whether you’re up north in Sedona, cruising the Phoenix valley or scouring the south near Tucson, there is a fun dog friendly attraction you can enjoy almost anywhere!
Coffee, Art and Local Produce – Our Morning in Downtown Gilbert
My favorite thing to do as a dog mom is get together with my dog mom friends! I love the fall, winter and spring in Arizona because the weather is nice enough to go on outdoor outings all the time. Downtown Gilbert is a hot spot in the area with many dog friendly restaurants and a weekly farmer’s market. I’d say this is one of the many reasons I love Gilbert – it’s incredibly dog friendly. So today I got together with my girlfriends for coffee, the Gilbert Art Walk and to browse local produce and products at the farmer’s market.
