Wynston has been modeling for PetSmart for a little over a year and a half. His first opportunity to model for the big name pet company was in October 2014. That photo shoot paved the way for Wynston’s future modeling career, and I will tell you why. If you are interested in getting your dog into modeling, or you are headed to a professional photo shoot, here are some tips as to how you can prepare your dog (and yourself) for the big day.
Mommy and Me Monday – The Dog Mom Life
As a dog mom, I believe that it’s necessary to spend quality time with each of my dogs. It’s a good bonding experience, and you get to know your dogs as individuals. When my three dogs are together on an outing, their listening skills decline and they act like monkeys in a circus. Take them all separately, and they are perfect angels. While we’re working on the whole “going out as a group” thing, I spend one-on-one time with each of my dogs. Today I took Wynston over to the Riparian Preserve for a relaxing nature walk. Perhaps I will start a new blog series – Mommy and me Monday!
Dog Mom With Depression: Speaking of the Stigma
Depression sucks. Depression really, really sucks. How do I know? I have clinical depression. It runs in my family and unfortunately it’s just one of those things that I was (insert sarcasm) lucky to inherit. Depression is something we don’t talk about enough. People hear the word and they think “Oh my God. That’s so bad. We can’t talk about depression! How DEPRESSING!” Well, okay. That makes zero sense. With all of the social media and internet capabilities in our hands today, it’s my belief that those of us who have suffered from depression should speak out about the struggle and what helps us cope. For me, it’s my dogs.

None of my small dogs were potty trained when I rescued them and it was a different process with each one. Using positive reinforcement methods, you can potty train your Chihuahua quickly with a minimal margin of error. Here are 10 tips for effectively potty training your Chihuahua or other small dog.

Chase Field to Become the First Dog-Friendly MLB Ballpark in the U.S.
This is super big news. Well, for me at least. I’ve been a HUGE Arizona Diamondbacks fan since I was 13 years old. I watch every game of every season. I’ve been to playoff games, too many spring training games and have waited long hours for player autographs. Two years ago, Matt and I took Wynston to “Bark in the Park,” a dog friendly baseball game at the D-back’s Chase Field. The proceeds benefited the AAWL and we had a designated area to sit during the game. It was amazing. I just wished that I could take Wynston to a game whenever I want – and that dream just came true.
